The UK government has announced another extension of visas for Ukrainians who moved to the country as a result of the full-scale war. The new conditions provide for an 18-month extension of documents with a number of important nuances.
Key changes in the visa program for refugees from Ukraine in the UK
1. Validity of the new permit
Ukrainian refugees will be able to extend their stay in the UK for 18 months. It is important to understand that this is not an automatic extension, but a process that requires an application from the applicant.
2. Timeline for submitting documents
● Start of the application process: February 4, 2025
● Deadline for submission: 28 days before the expiration of the current visa
● Duration of consideration: 8 weeks

Important conditions for visa extensions
The application can be submitted exclusively in the UK. This is a fundamental condition that all Ukrainian refugees should take into account.
At the same time, within 8 weeks of application processing:
● You are not allowed to leave the country
● All rights and legal status are preserved
● Full social protection is guaranteed
⚠️ Important to know: the period of stay under the sponsorship program is not counted towards the 10-year period required to obtain a permanent residence permit.
