Since February 24, 2022, the airspace over Ukraine has been closed. Therefore, crossing the border is only possible by land. That is why Ukrzaliznytsia is actively developing international rail links with the European Union. Therefore, even in times of war, traveling for Ukrainians is becoming more comfortable and faster.

Here are the available options for traveling by train between Ukraine and various EU countries, as well as ticket prices for these destinations.

How do I buy tickets to international destinations?


You can buy train, bus, or plane tickets between Ukraine and various cities around the world through a convenient booking system on the Visit Ukraine platform. We have an advantageous system of accumulating bonuses, so you can save money and travel much cheaper.


Please note that train schedules and ticket prices are subject to change. Therefore, we recommend that you check the latest information before planning your trip.


Tickets for international flights of Ukrzaliznytsia are available exclusively online - through a chatbot, the official website or mobile application. Ticket sales start in advance: for Polish destinations (Przemysl, Cholm, Warsaw) - at 09:00 20 days in advance; for flights to Slovakia, Hungary and Austria - at 08:00 20 days in advance; to Moldova - at 08:00 30 days in advance. To issue a ticket, you need to enter the passenger's personal data and pay in hryvnias calculated at the current euro exchange rate. It takes 15 minutes to complete the transaction.

Trains Ukraine - Poland


Ukrzaliznytsia offers a wide network of flights to Poland from 7 Ukrainian cities.” Ticket prices range from 15.80 to 76.20 euros, depending on the point of departure and arrival. You can get to Warsaw, Chełm and Przemyśl by train.


Warsaw


Train #67/68 Kyiv - Warsaw - Kyiv runs daily. Departure from Kyiv is at 19.57, arrival in Warsaw is at 10.17. In the opposite direction, departure from Warsaw is at 17.51, arrival in Kyiv is at 11.40.


Helm


1. Train 19/20 “Kyiv - Chełm - Kyiv” runs daily. It departs from Kyiv at 05.42 and arrives in Chełm at 23.00. In the opposite direction, it arrives in Kyiv at 11.40;

2. Train 93/94 “Kharkiv - Chełm - Kharkiv” departs from Kharkiv at 13:15 and arrives at 11:15. In the opposite direction, it arrives in Kharkiv at 13.28;

3. Train 119/120 “Dnipro - Helm - Dnipro” runs daily. It departs from Dnipro at 21:48 and arrives in Chełm at 16:33.


Przemyśl


1. Train 51/52 “Kyiv - Przemyśl - Kyiv” runs daily. It departs from Kyiv at 19.11 and arrives at 05.50. In the opposite direction it arrives in the capital at 07.34;

2. Train 715/716 Intercity “Kyiv - Przemyśl - Kyiv” runs daily. Departure at 11:28, arrival at 20:20;

3. Train 705/706 Intercity “Kyiv - Przemyśl - Kyiv ” runs daily. Departure from Kyiv is at 19:19, arrival is at 04:25. Departure from Przemyśl at 09:35, arrival in Kyiv at 20:02;

4. Train 73/74 “Kharkiv - Przemyśl - Kharkiv” departs from Kharkiv at 13.45 and arrives in Przemyśl at 11.13. In the opposite direction, it arrives in Kharkiv at 13.28;

5. Train 32/33 “Zaporizhzhia - Przemyśl - Zaporizhzhia ” runs daily. It departs from Zaporizhzhia at 20.47 and arrives at 18.11. In the opposite direction it arrives at 15.05;

6. Train 36/37 “Odesa - Przemyśl - Odesa ” runs daily. It departs from Odesa at 14.38 and arrives at its final destination at 05.50.


Approximate cost of train tickets to Poland:

- Kyiv - Warsaw - 76.20 euros;

- Kyiv - Chełm - 44.80 euros;

- Kyiv - Przemyśl - 44.80 euros (first class) and 31.20 euros (second class);

- Kyiv - Przemyśl - 47.90 euros;

- Kharkiv - Chełm - 56.90 euros;

- Dnipro - Chełm - 59.59 euros;

- Kharkiv - Przemyśl - 58.40 euros;

- Zaporizhzhia - Przemyśl - 60.10 euros;

- Odesa - Przemyśl - 49.10 euros;

- Rava-Ruska - Warsaw - 29.60 euros (first class), 26.40 euros (second class);

Trains Ukraine - Hungary


On December 15, another train was launched between Kyiv and Budapest, which has sleeping compartment and luxury cars. The schedule is quite convenient, with connections to Vienna, Salzburg, Munich, Zurich, and other European cities. Ticket prices range from 25 to 67 euros depending on the class.

1. Train 749/149 Kyiv - Vienna runs via Budapest. It departs from Kyiv at 12.06 and arrives in Budapest at 08.20;

2. Train 40 “Mukachevo - Budapest” departs from Mukachevo at 04:11 and arrives in Budapest at 14:53;

3. Train 146 “Chop - Záhony - Chop ” runs daily. Departs from Chop at 08.23;

4. Train 368 “Mukachevo - Budapest” runs daily. Departure from Mukachevo at 05:14, arrival in Budapest at 14:53.


Ticket prices to Hungary:

- Kyiv - Budapest - 67.30 euros;

- Lviv - Budapest - 49.90 euros;

- Mukachevo - Budapest - 25.00 euros;

- Chop - Budapest - 35.50 euros (first class), 23.60 euros (second class).

Trains Ukraine - Austria


Trains run to Austria from Lviv, Kyiv, and Chop. In 2025, it is planned to change the route Kyiv - Vienna with a stopover in Chop, which will make it shorter by 3 hours. There will also be an additional carriage, so the number of seats will increase significantly.

1. Train 749/149 “Kyiv - Vienna - Kyiv” runs daily. It departs from Kyiv at 12.06 and arrives in Vienna at 11.20. In the opposite direction, the schedule is 16.42 - 16.50;

2. Train 146/143 “Chop - Vienna - Chop” runs daily. Departure from Chop at 08:23, arrival at 17:20.


Ticket prices for trains to Austria:

- Kyiv - Vienna - 89.60 euros;

- Lviv - Vienna - 71.20 euros;

- Chop - Vienna - 70.30 euros (first class), 43.90 euros (second class).

Trains Ukraine - Czech Republic


1. Train 715 “Kyiv - Prague - Kyiv” runs with a stopover in Przemysl. The train departs from Kyiv at 11:28 and arrives in Prague at 06:37. In the opposite direction, it departs from Prague at 21:52 and arrives in Chop at 10:35;

2. The Regiojet train “Chop - Prague - Chop” runs daily. It departs from Chop at 17:35 and arrives in Prague at 05:46. In the opposite direction, it departs from Prague at 21:52 and arrives in Chop at 10:35. The travel time is approximately 13.5 hours. In the Czech Republic, the train runs through Ostrava, Olomouc and Pardubice.


Regiojet offers the possibility of convenient travel between Ukraine and the Czech Republic with a single ticket. This service is available for passengers from Kyiv, Lviv, Ternopil, Poltava, Dnipro, Kharkiv, and Zaporizhzhia, as well as in the opposite direction.

The trip consists of two stages. First, passengers travel by direct train from Ukraine to Przemyśl, Poland, using Intercity trains: Przemyśl-Kyiv, Przemyśl-Kharkiv or Przemyśl-Zaporizhzhia. In Przemyśl, you can connect with a guaranteed train to Prague, which passes through the cities of Pardubice, Olomouc, Ostrava, Bohumín and Rubnik.

Tickets can be purchased on the Regiojet website (Ukrainian version available) or via the mobile application for Android and iOS. Approximate ticket price from Kyiv is 40 euros (approximately 1400 hryvnias), from Lviv - from 23 euros (approximately 980 hryvnias), and from Ternopil - from 28 euros (approximately 1200 hryvnias).


Please also note that Ukrzaliznytsia has added a new train Chernivtsi-Uzhhorod, which will allow passengers to conveniently transfer to a train to Prague in Chop.

Trains Ukraine - Slovakia


1. Train 967/960 “Mukachevo - Kosice - Mukachevo ” runs daily. Departure from Mukachevo is at 14:45, arrival is at 18:17;

2. Train 963/962 “Mukachevo - Kosice - Mukachevo ” runs daily. Departure from Mukachevo is at 18:16, arrival is at 21:33.


Starting December 15, a connecting route is also available by train #27/28 “Kyiv - Chop - Kyiv”. It is necessary to transfer to the train No. 617/961 Chop - Bratislava from the Slovakian railway ZSSK. This train also connects to Kosice, Žilina, Trnava and Poprad.


Ticket prices to Slovakia:

- Mukachevo - Kosice - 11.00 euros;

- Kyiv - Bratislava - from 44.5 euros.

Trains Ukraine - Moldova


There is only 1 train from Ukraine to Moldova and back: the train 351/352 Kyiv - Chisinau - Kyiv. It departs from Kyiv at 17.05 and arrives in the Moldovan capital at 11.30. Departure from Chisinau is at 17:34, arrival in Kyiv is at 12:05.

Starting December 15, the capital of Moldova can be reached by train from Lviv. Compartment cars will run between the cities.


Ticket prices to Moldova:

- Kyiv - Chisinau - 2,0192.91 UAH (reserved seat), compartment - 3,051.24 UAH (compartment), 5,658.68 UAH (SV);

- Lviv - Chisinau - UAH 3,965 (compartment).

The price is exclusive of a commission fee of 55 UAH.
