Where to dispose of a car that is no longer suitable for use: an algorithm of actions

If your car has fallen victim to circumstances and is no longer roadworthy, don't delay your decision. Find out what to do in this case
Military operations and terror by russia have led to large-scale losses of property among Ukrainian citizens, including vehicles. Many cars remain in the occupied territories or become unrepairable due to serious damage or long service life. Despite this, such cars continue to be registered with their owners, which can create legal and administrative difficulties. What to do with a car that has become scrap metal? The answer is simple - it can be deregistered through the culling procedure.
What is vehicle culling?
Culling is the process of removing an unusable vehicle from state registration. This procedure allows owners to officially get rid of a vehicle that can no longer be used without incurring additional financial costs. The service is provided free of charge and is available at any service centre of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

Algorithm of actions for culling a car
1. Make an appointment with a service centre of the Ministry of Internal Affairs
Use the online E-registration or the terminal at the centre to receive a coupon. This allows you to plan your visit in advance and avoid queues.
2. Prepare the necessary documents. When visiting a service centre, you will need the following documents:
- Passport with a stamp of residence registration or ID card with a statement of residence.
- Certificate of registration number of the taxpayer's account card.
- Vehicle registration certificate (if you have one).
- License plates (if you have them).
If the registration certificate or number plates have been lost or stolen, provide a resolution from the internal affairs authorities on the initiation or refusal to initiate a criminal case.
3. Contact a service centre of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. If you cannot visit the centre in person, your legal representative can do so. To do this, you must additionally issue a notarised power of attorney.
4. Wait for your application to be processed. The culling service is provided within one business day from the date of submission of all documents.
What else do you need to know?
Please note that if you decide to restore the registration of a rejected vehicle, this is possible only by court order.
Once a vehicle is deregistered, it officially ceases to exist as a registered vehicle.
