Foreigners in the Armed Forces will be subjected to polygraph test: details

According to the new regulations, foreigners and stateless persons seeking to serve under contract in the Armed Forces, the National Guard or the State Special Transport Service will now be required to undergo a polygraph test. This will be part of a special check before being accepted for military service.

According to Honcharenko, the Center for Recruiting Foreigners has been officially authorized to conduct such tests. This decision is aimed at increasing security and preventing potential risks in the ranks of the Ukrainian army.

Earlier this year, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine passed a law allowing foreigners to serve under contract in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to the new rules, all foreign candidates must undergo a polygraph test with their own consent. Refusal to take such a test may be grounds for refusal to enlist.

In addition, the amendments to the legislation provide for the possibility of hiring foreigners not only for the positions of private, sergeant and non-commissioned officer, but also for officer positions. This expands opportunities for foreign nationals wishing to join the Ukrainian armed forces.

The introduction of a polygraph as a mandatory part of the vetting process is a step towards ensuring high standards of recruitment in the Ukrainian army, which will help to increase the level of trust and security among the military.
