When will the cherry blossoms bloom in Uzhhorod in 2026: blooming dates and the best spots
The cherry blossom in Uzhhorod is a very beautiful phenomenon that locals and visitors look forward to every year. Find out the best time to go, the main locations for contemplating the pink blossoms and other interesting places to visit in Uzhhorod this spring
Every spring, Uzhhorod transforms into a true fairy tale thanks to the blooming cherry blossoms, which attract thousands of tourists from all over the world. These Japanese cherry trees adorn the city streets, giving it a unique charm and romantic atmosphere. Uzhhorod is considered the unofficial cherry blossom capital of Ukraine—thousands of ornamental trees grow here, with large-scale plantings dating back to the 20th century.
When do cherry blossoms bloom in Uzhhorod?
Cherry blossoms in Uzhhorod usually bloom in the second half of April, with the peak of blooming traditionally falling between the 18th and 25th. The blooming period lasts from 7 to 14 days and depends on rainfall, wind, and temperature fluctuations.
However, the timing may vary depending on weather conditions. In recent years, due to climate change, flowering periods have shifted unpredictably. For example, in 2024, the first cherry blossoms began to bloom as early as April 2–3, and mass blooming was observed until mid-month. In 2026, the season started even earlier—due to a sharp warming at the end of March, the first flowers appeared then, and by early April, the city recorded the start of mass blooming.
The blooming itself occurs in stages: first, individual trees and early varieties bloom, and within a few days, the city is engulfed in mass blooming.

● Slavyanska Embankment — the cherry blossoms on this embankment begin right past the “Venice” restaurant and stretch all the way to Bozdosh Park.
