Grounds for obtaining an annual visa to Poland
According to the Act on Foreigners dated 12 December 2013, an annual type D visa can be issued on the following grounds:
- Employment. An invitation letter from a Polish employer (oświadczenie o powierzeniu pracy cudzoziemcowi or zezwolenie na pracę).
- Education. Admission to a Polish university or language courses.
- Business. Registration of business activity in Poland.
- Family reunion. Having close relatives with legal status in Poland.
- Other grounds. Humanitarian reasons, scientific research, etc.

The procedure for obtaining a type D visa to Poland
1. Preparation of documents
Depending on the reason for the visa, the package of documents includes:
- Visa application form (filled in in Polish).
- Foreign passport (valid for at least 3 months after the visa expiration date).
- Photos (in accordance with visa requirements).
- Proof of the purpose of stay (invitation letter, employment contract, university certificate, etc.).
- Proof of financial solvency (bank statements, income statement).
- Health insurance (minimum coverage is 30,000 euros).
2. Appointment for submission of documents
The applicant must make an appointment with a visa centre or consulate of Poland through the official website e-konsulat.
3. Submission of documents and payment of the fee
On the day of submission, the consular fee (usually 80 euros) must be paid.
4. Waiting for the decision
Application processing takes from 10 to 30 days. If necessary, the consulate may request additional documents or an interview.
