From the South to the Carpathians: Ukrzaliznytsia launches a new route for travellers
Winter travel is once again becoming a trend among Ukrainians, and the railway is actively adapting to demand. The new route makes it easy to travel from the south to the Carpathians, covering popular tourist destinations. Learn more about the new train, its schedule, route, and amenities for passengers
Against the backdrop of growing interest among Ukrainians in winter holidays in the Carpathians, Ukrzaliznytsia is launching a new long-distance route — a train that will connect the sea coast with mountain resorts. This announcement recently appeared on the carrier's Telegram channel. Starting in February, there will be regular service between Odesa and Rakhiv, both popular tourist destinations.
What is special about the new route, when does the train depart, and which cities does it connect? We will tell you more in this article.
New railway route: Odesa — Rakhiv
The new train No. 26/25 Odesa — Rakhiv will run daily, providing a stable and comfortable connection between the south and west of Ukraine.
The travel schedule is designed so that passengers can conveniently reach their destinations both during the day and at night:
– Departure from Odesa: 18:38, arrival in Rakhiv: 13:20 the next day.
– Departure from Rakhiv: 14:21, arrival in Odesa: 08:38.

Through the heart of Ukraine — to the mountains
The route covers a large part of the country, allowing passengers to see different regions of Ukraine in one trip. The train passes through the following cities:
– Podilsk, Vapniarka, Zhmerinka, Khmelnytskyi, Ternopil, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Yaremche, Tatariv-Bukovel, Vorokhta, Yasinya, Kvasy.
This trip will be especially convenient for those heading to the ski resorts of Bukovel or Yaremche.
The train offers a variety of car types, from classic open cars to compartment and luxury options. There are also separate compartments for women and children, which makes it even more convenient for families and individual travellers.
The new route is part of the ‘3000 Kilometres Across Ukraine’ programme, which allows Ukrainians to get to know their country better by rail. Tickets are already available in the official Ukrzaliznytsia app (Google Play | App Store), on the website, and at station ticket offices.
In addition to the main route, another train — No. 255/256 Kyiv — Rakhiv — will run on certain dates. The nearest departures from Kyiv are scheduled for 26 and 28 January, allowing even more people to visit the Carpathians at a convenient time.
