Warmth and recovery for Kyiv residents: how the social initiative of hotels from UHRA and Visit Ukraine works during blackouts
During the energy blackouts, Kyiv residents can get a safe place with heat, light, water and stable internet at a discounted rate. The Hotel Association of Ukraine and Visit Ukraine have launched a social initiative to support Kyiv residents. Learn more about the terms of participation, the list of hotels and the format of this program
Massive blackouts change the usual rhythm of life, making it difficult to work, study and even do basic household tasks. For many Kyiv residents, access to heat, electricity, water and stable internet is a daily challenge.
That is why Ukraine has launched the Warmth and Recovery for Kyivites social initiative, which brings together hotels that are ready to provide a safe space for temporary accommodation. The program provides a 20% discount on accommodation and is valid only during periods of power outages. This is not an advertising campaign, but a format of solidarity between businesses and citizens. The program is valid only during blackouts and is aimed at supporting Kyiv residents, not at making a profit.
What is the Heat and Recovery for Kyiv residents initiative?
“Warmth and Recovery for Kyivans” is a social initiative launched by the Ukrainian Hotel and Resort Association (UHRA) together with Visit Ukraine in response to regular energy blackouts and the growing psychological burden on Kyiv residents. Its goal is not to promote services or a classic marketing campaign, but to provide real support to people at a time when basic living and working conditions are becoming unavailable.
As part of the program, participating hotels provide Kyiv residents with the opportunity to temporarily move to a space with heat, light, water, stable internet and the necessary services to recuperate or continue working. Accommodation is provided with a special social discount, and the initiative is valid only for the period of blackouts.
The project is being implemented as a joint position of the hotel community and Visit Ukraine, a reliable travel platform that provides centralized communication, booking and information for program participants. That is why the initiative is being presented publicly with a clear message: this is not a commercial offer, but a form of solidarity and support in a difficult time for the city.

What conditions do Kyiv residents receive?
As part of the initiative, Kyiv residents can take advantage of a -20% social discount on accommodation at participating hotels. It was introduced specifically for the period of energy blackouts and is designed to make temporary stays in comfortable conditions more affordable.
Staying in these hotels provides basic resources that are critical during blackouts: stable electricity, heating, hot water, internet connection and workspace. For many, this is an opportunity not only to rest and recuperate, but also to continue working remotely or studying without constant interruptions.
You can use the program when booking through the Visit Ukraine platform using a special promotional code. The procedure is standard and does not require additional confirmation or complex checks - just select a participating hotel and apply the discount when making a reservation. At the same time, it is important to note that the offer is valid only during the blackout period and may have restrictions on dates or room categories, depending on the conditions of a particular hotel.
Hotels participating in the social program
Hotels in Kyiv and other cities of Ukraine have already joined the Warmth and Recovery for Kyiv residents initiative and are ready to provide temporary shelter in comfortable and safe conditions. All of them operate under the same program principles: voluntary participation, a fixed social discount and transparent conditions for guests.
As of now, the list of participants includes:
- Optima Collection Podil Plaza
- Raziotel Kyiv (Yamska street)
- Raziotel Kyiv (Boryspilska Street)
- VitaPark Borysfen
- Senator
- Amarant 3★ / 4★
At the same time, the program remains open to new participants, so the list of hotels is gradually expanding. The latest information on available accommodation options can be viewed directly on the Visit Ukraine platform when booking.
As a reminder, the Ministry of Health has provided safe tips on how to stay warm at home in the absence of heating.
How does the discount work on the Visit Ukraine platform?
To make participation in the program as simple and straightforward as possible for users, the mechanism for applying the social discount is implemented without complicated technical procedures. All participating hotels are marked on the Visit Ukraine platform, and the discount is integrated directly into the booking process.
When choosing a hotel, the user immediately sees information about participation in the social initiative and the final cost of accommodation, including -20%. When using the promotional code, the discount is applied automatically, without additional confirmation or contacting the hotel administration.
The booking process itself remains standard: selecting dates, room category, filling in contact details and confirming payment. This format avoids confusion, guarantees price transparency, and provides quick access to accommodation at the exact moment you need it. For users, this means one thing - no unnecessary actions, only clear conditions and real support during blackouts.
Why do hotels join the initiative?
For hotels, participation in the Warmth and Recovery for Kyivites program is not only an opportunity to support the capital's residents in a difficult period, but also a way to join a socially important project that has a real impact on the community. In times of crisis, this position builds trust, reputation, and long-term loyalty of guests.
In addition to the social component, hotels also receive practical benefits. The Visit Ukraine platform provides them with access to an international audience, a steady flow of bookings, and a multilingual presentation of their accommodation facilities without additional advertising costs. Participation in the program helps to increase room occupancy even during periods of low demand and optimize operations during an unstable situation in the power grid.
Organizational support also plays an important role: hotels work within clear rules, with a fixed discount and the ability to independently determine available dates or room categories. All communications with guests and technical issues are coordinated through Visit Ukraine, which allows them to focus on the main thing - ensuring the comfort and safety of people in need.

How can hotels join the program?
Participation in the Warmth and Recovery for Kyivites social initiative is open to hotels from all over Ukraine and does not require complicated connection procedures. The program is based on the principles of voluntariness, transparent conditions and a single social standard for all participants.
To join the initiative, hotel representatives just need to fill out a short registration form, which contains basic information about the accommodation facility, contacts of the responsible person and the desired terms of participation. After that, the Visit Ukraine team contacts the hotel to clarify the details and adds it to the list of program participants.
Hotels can independently determine the discount periods, available room categories and internal restrictions, while maintaining a fixed social discount of -20% for Kyiv residents. This format allows hotels to flexibly adapt participation in the program to their own operational capabilities and at the same time contribute to supporting the city during the blackouts.
The social initiative “Warmth and Recovery for Kyiv residents” shows that even in times of instability, business and society can work together to create real support for people. The ability to get heat, light, communication, and a safe space to rest or work is becoming not just a convenience, but a necessity. That is why such projects are of particular value to the city. In this initiative, Visit Ukraine plays the role of a reliable coordinator that brings together hotels and residents of the capital, providing easy access to help when it is needed most.
