The Embassy of Ukraine will hold on-site consular receptions in Austrian cities in 2026
Ukrainians living in regions of Austria far from Vienna will be able to receive consular services without traveling to the capital. In 2026, on-site receptions are planned in six cities. Find out more about the updated schedule and the procedure for contacting consuls
In the past years, the format of on-site consular services in Austria has proven to be a convenient solution for Ukrainians living or temporarily staying in regions far from Vienna. That is why the Embassy of Ukraine decided to continue this practice in 2026 by organizing receptions of consular officers in several cities of the country.
This format allows citizens to receive some consular services without having to travel to the capital, which is especially important for families with children, the elderly and those living in the federal states of Austria. The preliminary schedule of on-site receptions has already been published and covers six cities in different months of the year.
In our previous article, we told you about all the current changes in family benefits for Ukrainians in Austria.
Schedule of on-site consular receptions in Austria in 2026
In 2026, on-site consular services for Ukrainians in Austria are planned to be provided in six cities in different federal states. Receptions will be held throughout the year so that residents of different regions can choose the most convenient time to contact consular officers. The tentative schedule may be adjusted depending on organizational circumstances.

What consular services can be provided during the on-site receptions?
In 2026, a limited number of services will be provided to Ukrainians during on-site consular receptions in the regions of Austria that do not require contacting the state authorities of Ukraine. The exact list of available actions will be announced separately before each visit, but the basic list has already been determined by the Embassy of Ukraine.
During the on-site consular services, citizens will be able to use the following services:
- Performing notarial acts upon preliminary preparation of documents;
- Issuance of certain certificates (in particular, for the identification of pensioners or confirmation of identity);
- Acceptance of documents for issuing passports to children under 12 years of age;
- Issuance of personalized passports that have already been received by the Embassy;
- Providing consultations on consular and legal issues and the procedure for applying to the Consular Section of the Embassy of Ukraine in Austria.
It is important to keep in mind that the full list of available services and the procedure for obtaining them may differ depending on the specific city and date of the on-site reception. Therefore, before visiting, you should familiarize yourself with the Embassy's separate announcement on specific on-site consular services.
Earlier we mentioned that in 2026, Ukrainian will be available as a second foreign language in two educational institutions.
Important organizational issues and how to prepare for the visit
Due to the limited number of places for each on-site consular reception in 2026, the Embassy of Ukraine in Austria plans to pre-register citizens. A detailed list of consular activities available in a particular city will be published in separate announcements on the eve of each visit. This means that it may be difficult to apply without prior preparation.
To ensure that the reception is organized efficiently, citizens are advised to inform the consul in advance of their request by email. The letter should briefly describe the issue you plan to address, as well as leave your contact phone number and email address for feedback. This will allow the consular officers to better plan the time of the reception and avoid queues.
Special attention should be paid to the preparation of documents. Before the visit, it is recommended to make copies of all documents that may be required to perform a consular action and check their relevance. An incomplete package of documents or the absence of an appointment may result in a refusal to provide services during an on-site visit.
