Travel across the Ukrainian-Hungarian border in the coming days may require additional planning. Citizens planning to travel across the Ukrainian-Hungarian border in the coming days should take into account temporary restrictions at some checkpoints. In Zakarpattia, the processing of people and vehicles at checkpoints will be suspended for a short time. The region's customs authorities have announced the temporary changes.

Which checkpoints will be closed

This concerns the Kosyno-Barabash checkpoint, where the registration of citizens and vehicles will be suspended for several hours. The restrictions are related to technical work to upgrade the infrastructure.

Specialists will connect new modular structures, which will be used by customs and border service employees. These modules are designed to improve working conditions for staff and speed up border control procedures.

When will the restrictions be in effect?

The work is scheduled to take two days and will be carried out during the daytime:

🔹 10 March — from 13:00 to 17:00

🔹 11 March — from 13:00 to 17:00

During this period, the processing of people and vehicles in both directions will be temporarily suspended.

After the completion of the installation work, the checkpoint will resume normal operation.

Which checkpoints can be used

Travellers are advised to plan their route in advance and, if necessary, use other checkpoints on the Ukrainian-Hungarian border.

You can cross the border through the following checkpoints:

🔹 ‘Vylok — Tisabec’

🔹 ‘Velyka Palad — Nagygödös’ — open to Ukrainian and EU citizens travelling by car

🔹 ‘Luzhanka — Beregsurany’

These crossings continue to operate without change.

Advice for travellers

The customs service urges travellers to take temporary restrictions into account before travelling and to check the situation at the border in advance. This will help to avoid queues and delays.

Once the work is complete, the upgraded modules will speed up control procedures and make crossing the border more convenient for passengers and drivers.
