Will there definitely not be a Third World War? Safe countries in the world that investors are confident about

Recent geopolitical upheavals have permanently changed the rules of investing and choosing a place to live. We analyse which safe countries in the world remain reliable ‘concrete safes’ for preserving capital and where it is best to wait out global turbulence

The world is in turmoil, and there are no more illusions left - the large-scale military operation by the United States and Israel in Iran has proven that there are no longer any completely safe zones under the old rules. This conflict has had a domino effect on the entire Middle East — a region that for decades was considered an ‘untouchable’ financial haven for the world's elites. Against the backdrop of such global upheavals, the rules of the game have changed dramatically. Today, both ordinary people and large corporations are asking themselves one question: how to protect themselves and their assets?

The answer can be found where big money is flowing right now. Capital always migrates to places where there are no wars or upheavals, choosing new safe countries around the world. Anton Taranenko, founder of Anta Group and Visit Ukraine, former director of the Department of Tourism and Promotion of the Kyiv City State Administration, and expert in tourism strategy development, discusses how the psychology of travel has changed, where to look for ‘concrete safes’ for capital, and which destinations will become the main refuges in 2026.

Where to invest in real estate abroad to hide capital from crises

According to Taranenko, geopolitical risks, wars, and economic instability are forcing money to move quickly. Investors are looking for reliable ‘concrete safes’ to preserve their funds. However, a safe territory alone is not enough: the ideal formula includes maximum protection plus economic drivers.

"When it comes to real estate investment, the same logic applies. You can find a country with a pleasant climate where no one bothers you, but only three people live there. I would choose a balance: a country that is safe, with a minimum number of vulnerable neighbours, but at the same time has investment-attractive drivers that constantly fuel it," he emphasised.

Countries with unpredictable neighbours are losing their appeal, and capital is migrating to places where the risks of external interference are minimised.

The safest countries during World War III

If we analyse global trends and investment flows in foreign real estate in 2026, several key regions stand out that combine security and investment potential.

"Safe havens are definitely Indonesia (Bali, Sumba). These are thousands of islands that are not part of any military alliances and are virtually independent from the mainland: they have fertile land, plenty of rice and livestock. I would also highlight America — it has a large economy and powerful military potential, capable of defending itself. In second place after Indonesia, we should look at Australia, which is relatively far away.

Among the new destinations, Cape Town (South Africa) and Turkey are growing well — despite its specific neighbourhood, it has a strong army and always provides capitalisation thanks to the year-round sun in Antalya," Taranenko believes.

Incidentally, Indonesia could indeed become the number one refuge: the British Daily Mail has already included it in its latest top five countries in the event of a global conflict, precisely because of its strict neutrality and absolute food autonomy.

By the way, if you are interested in investing in real estate in Bali, as well as the features, advantages and disadvantages of investing in 2026, go to the ANTA Group website to see available options and prices, as well as get advice from a competent specialist.

Where should you definitely not move to escape the war?

Just a couple of years ago, the Middle East seemed like an ideal haven. However, after a large-scale conflict broke out and the illusion of security was shattered, investors put this region ‘on hold’. Any geopolitical risks automatically trigger capital flight.

"As for the Middle East and east of Dubai, I would not believe in this story after what happened. It will take them quite a long time, so to speak, to restore their potential and prove their status as a safe zone," said Taranenko, adding that Dubai and the neighbouring emirates will need a lot of time to regain the trust of those who are looking for 100% stability without the risk of finding themselves in the epicentre of someone else's conflict.

How to choose safe countries to live in and keep your money

Geopolitics has permanently redrawn the world map. Investors are voting with their dollars for locations that can feed themselves, have strong defences, or are simply on the other side of the world.

"We see a direct correlation: where there are risks, capital migrates. People are looking for something more decent and secure. Powerful countries with a strong military base or remote neutral states will always grow and remain in demand," sums up the founder of the Anta Group development company.

Travel insurance: why it will be more important than the landscape in 2026

Today, the approach to travel has changed fundamentally, according to the expert. Tourists no longer choose locations solely on the basis of ‘where is more beautiful.’ Personal safety has come to the forefront: logistics, the security of the region, the absence of natural disasters and aggressive neighbours. The main criterion is the ability to return home quickly and safely in case of force majeure.

Therefore, travel medical insurance is no longer just a formality. Especially in Asia, where medicine is very different from European standards.

"It seems to me that people now choose not where it is beautiful, but where it is safe.

The top spots are places where there are no problems and no weird neighbours. And insurance is just as important as booking the trip itself. You can be chilling in a fancy hotel, but a coconut could fall on you from the palm tree you're sunbathing under. Those 20, 50 or 100 quid should definitely give you peace of mind. And, as a rule, nothing happens to people who are prepared," notes Anton Taranenko.

Practice shows that insurance saves huge amounts of money. Treatment after an accident in a rented car or helping a friend who broke his arm in the mountains will cost 10 times more than the insurance itself without a policy.

To avoid spending hours studying the fine print in contracts, you can take out reliable medical insurance for travel anywhere in the world on the Visit Ukraine portal. The process takes just a few minutes online, and the policy is instantly delivered to your email. Basic insurance from VU covers all key risks — from sudden illness to emergency care — guaranteeing you peace of mind wherever you are.
