The domestic market for used cars in Ukraine showed a significant decline in activity in February 2026 after a period of high demand. Despite the drop in the number of transactions, the market structure remained fairly stable: Ukrainians continue to prefer proven models of mid-range European brands, and are gradually turning their attention to the affordable premium segment. This was reported by experts from the Automotive Market Research Institute.

How many cars did Ukrainians sell in February?

According to the results of February 2026, 56,551 sales transactions for used passenger cars were recorded in Ukraine. This is significantly less than in previous periods. In particular:

● compared to January 2026, the volume of resales decreased by 31.9%;

● compared to February 2025, the decline was 36.9%.

Analysts explain this dynamic by the fact that after a period of increased activity, the market has returned to a more traditional structure. Buyers have become more cautious and are more likely to choose proven models that offer the best value for money and reliability.

According to experts, the current decline in demand is a technical pause that allows the market to balance the real purchasing power of buyers and the supply of used cars.

Volkswagen traditionally maintains its leadership in the structure of brands on the secondary market in Ukraine. It is the cars of this German manufacturer that most often change owners. Next in the popularity rating are BMW, Renault, Skoda, and Audi.

The top ten brands with the highest number of transactions also include VAZ/Lada, Toyota, Mercedes-Benz, Ford, and Hyundai.

After purchasing a used car, it is important to remember about legal and insurance formalities. In particular, it is mandatory to obtain car insurance in order to operate a car on the roads. Ukrainian drivers can quickly obtain a policy online through the Visit Ukraine service, which saves time after purchasing a car and avoids problems during inspections.

The situation in the model ranking also remains fairly stable. The market leaders are traditionally cars that have been in high demand among Ukrainian drivers for many years. The top positions in February 2026 were taken by the Volkswagen Passat and Skoda Octavia. These models have long been considered among the most popular cars on the secondary market thanks to their combination of practicality, reliability, and relatively affordable cost.

Stable demand also remains for the Daewoo Lanos and its derivative models. Despite the fact that production of this car at the Zaporizhia Automobile Plant ended nine years ago, it remains an active commodity on the market. In total, almost 400,000 Lanos cars were produced in Ukraine, which explains their significant presence in the secondary segment.

In addition, the Volkswagen Golf, Renault Megane, Ford Focus, and Audi A4 remain among the popular models of used cars.

Demand for premium cars

The premium segment of the secondary market is of particular interest. Although the number of transactions in this segment is significantly lower, there is still some activity. In February 2026, the following resales were recorded in Ukraine:

● 1 Ferrari

● 1 McLaren

● 3 Aston Martin

● 4 Rolls-Royce

In addition, 6 Bentley cars and 12 Maserati cars found new owners.

Porsche had the highest number of transactions among premium brands, with 222 cars of this brand changing owners during the month.

We remind you! The European Union is preparing major changes for the automotive industry. The new Euro 7 environmental standard establishes rules not only for cars with internal combustion engines, but also for electric vehicles, paying particular attention to the service life and condition of batteries. These requirements could have a significant impact on electric car manufacturers and buyers in Europe.
