Spring flower locations in Ukraine: where to go to see crocuses, cherry blossoms, tulips, and daffodils
In spring, Ukraine turns into a veritable flower map: from the Carpathian mountain meadows to the Transcarpathian alleys, dozens of locations impress with their bright colors. This is the time when nature itself creates the best scenery for travel and photography. Learn more about the most interesting flower routes and tours to book this spring
Spring is one of the most beautiful seasons for traveling in Ukraine. It is during this period that mountains, valleys, and city alleys are covered with carpets of crocuses, cherry blossoms, tulips, snowdrops, and daffodils. Every year, thousands of tourists go on flower tours of Ukraine to see unique natural phenomena that cannot be found anywhere else in Europe. Tour operators organize special routes to the best locations — with well-thought-out logistics, guides, and stops at picturesque spots.
Where to go in Ukraine in spring, which flowers to “catch” and when — we will tell you more in this article.
Crocuses in the Carpathians: the first flowers of spring
Crocuses are among the first to appear, sometimes even from under the snow, which is why they are considered a symbol of the beginning of spring in the Carpathians. Delicate purple, white, and yellow flowers cover the high-mountain pastures with a solid carpet — a sight worth overcoming the mountain trails for.
The most popular locations for observing crocus blooms are the Carpathian mountain pastures, in particular the Svidovets massif, the slopes of Dragobrat, and Mount Kostrycha in Rakhiv Raion. Blooming usually occurs in March–early April, depending on altitude and weather conditions. The atmosphere of such trips is special: morning fog over the mountains, fresh air, the smell of damp earth, and suddenly — a meadow densely covered with flowers in the middle of a landscape that is still gray after winter.
By the way, on the Visit Ukraine portal, you can book tours to the best crocus locations:

Sakura blooming in Transcarpathia
Sakura blossoms in Transcarpathia are one of the most anticipated spring tourist events in Ukraine. Every year at the end of April, Transcarpathian cities are transformed into pink and white scenery: the alleys of Uzhhorod, Mukachevo, and Berehove are covered with delicate petals of Japanese cherry blossoms.
The flowering period lasts on average from ten days to two weeks, so it is important to plan your trip in advance. Sakura photo tours have become a separate trend — dozens of photographers and bloggers come to capture pink tunnels of trees, coffee against the backdrop of blooming alleys, and atmospheric portraits. The cities themselves are in a festive mood at this time: fairs are open, cafes set up tables in the open air, and crowds with cameras walk the streets.
The Visit Ukraine portal offers several tours with the best sakura routes in Transcarpathia:

Tulip fields of Ukraine
Tulip fields are a relatively new but already extremely popular tourist trend in Ukraine. Bright rows of red, yellow, pink, and white tulips form landscapes reminiscent of Dutch fields — and all this is just a few hours' drive from major Ukrainian cities.
These fields have become favorite photo locations: couples, families with children, photographers, and travelers come for a few shots among the sea of flowers. Sometimes small festivals with music, local food, and master classes are timed to coincide with the tulip bloom. The atmosphere of these events is light and festive — they successfully combine outdoor recreation with elements of cultural leisure.
Among the tours on Visit Ukraine, there is a route that combines the architecture of Chernivtsi with a visit to a tulip field:
Snowdrops: the first flowers of spring
Snowdrops are a true symbol of nature's awakening after winter. Their white bells break through the decaying leaf cover as early as February — early March, long before the main wave of spring blooming.
Large glades of snowdrops can be seen in the forests of the Carpathian Mountains, Podillia, and Polissia. In recent years, interest in such locations has grown as part of ecotourism: travelers choose gentle, “slow” routes with walks along forest paths, visits to rural estates, and acquaintance with local life.
Visit Ukraine offers a tour that combines the snowdrop valley with interesting leisure activities:
● Snowdrop Valley, horse riding club, and Yenoita farmstead.
Narcissus Valley: a unique natural wonder
The Valley of Narcissi is located near the city of Khust in the Zakarpattia region and is one of the most famous natural sites in the region. It is the largest flat area of wild narcissi in Central Europe, covering an area of about 257 hectares, with the central part being the most densely covered with flowers.
The uniqueness of the valley lies in the fact that narrow-leaved daffodils grow here not in the mountains, as usual, but in the lowlands, in the floodplain of the Khustets River. The flowering period falls in mid-May and lasts for about two weeks. It is at this time that the white flower field against the backdrop of green hills attracts thousands of visitors.
The Transcarpathian Narcissus Valley is part of the Carpathian Biosphere Reserve and is a nature conservation site.

Why go on a flower tour in spring?
Flower tours are an opportunity to see Ukraine from a different perspective. Among the main reasons why travelers choose such trips are: incredible natural landscapes that change every week during spring; ideal photo locations among blooming fields, alleys, and mountain meadows; comfortable weather — already warm, but without the summer heat; rare natural phenomena that last only a few weeks a year; and a successful combination of nature with cultural attractions — castles, historic towns, and local cuisine.
