In the run-up to Easter 2026, Kyiv residents are, as is customary, expecting changes to the curfew and public transport services. However, the city authorities have not yet announced any special relaxations for the holiday period.

Will the curfew change for Easter?

As of now, no decision has been made to shorten or lift the curfew in Kyiv for Easter. The final decision, as before, will depend on the security situation and will be made by the military command.

The standard curfew remains in force in the capital — from 00:00 to 05:00. During this period, it is prohibited to be on the streets, travel by transport or walk without special passes.

Important: even on the night of the holiday, the restrictions remain mandatory for everyone. The only exception is when it is necessary to take shelter during an air raid alert.

How transport will operate

On Easter, Kyiv’s public transport, including the metro, surface transport and minibuses, will operate as usual — without extended night-time services.

The timetable remains subject to the curfew:

▪️ the metro runs approximately from 05:30–06:00 to 23:00–23:30

▪️ the last train departs around 23:00

▪️ overground transport runs according to the usual timetable

No decisions have yet been made regarding the introduction of night services or changes to the timetable.

The metro as a shelter

Despite the standard transport timetable, metro stations continue to fulfil an important function — they operate round the clock as shelters.

All 46 stations remain open during air raid alerts, and residents can use them for safety at any time of day, including on Easter night.

Consequences for curfew violations

Violating curfew rules in Kyiv carries consequences. If offenders are detected:

▪️ they may be detained

▪️ taken to a National Police station

▪️ administrative measures may be applied

The city authorities emphasise: compliance with restrictions is a matter of safety.

When looking after your safety whilst travelling, it is important to bear one detail in mind: standard international travel insurance policies are often invalid under martial law. Most foreign insurance companies classify any incidents, even those indirectly linked to military operations, as force majeure.

Reminder! The spring time change often leads to unfortunate delays. On 29 March 2026, the clocks will move forward by one hour. Find out how to correctly interpret the time on tickets so you don’t miss your train or bus.
