It will be possible to get a divorce online through Diia at the end of spring: what we know about the new service
Online divorce through “Diia” will become available to Ukrainians in the coming months. The service will simplify the divorce process and make it as convenient and quick as possible. Find out what requirements must be met and when the new service will launch
Ukraine is preparing to launch another important digital service: online divorce via the Diia app. According to the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, the service is in the final stages of development and could become available as early as late spring 2026.
Who will be able to use the service?
The new service will have clear restrictions. Only couples who meet the following criteria will be able to file for divorce online:
they do not have minor children together;
both parties agree to the divorce.
In cases where there are children or contentious issues arise, the procedure will, as before, be handled through the courts or the Civil Registry Office upon in-person application.
When will online divorce become available?
According to Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation Zoryana Stetsiuk, the technical development of the service is scheduled to be completed by the end of spring 2026. After that, beta testing will begin, during which the first users will be able to test the functionality.
A full launch for all citizens is expected after the completion of the testing phase.

Why will divorce be available later than online marriage?
The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine explains that the marriage service was implemented first through Diya—as it was in higher demand and simpler from a technical standpoint.
Ukraine became the first country in the world to implement a full cycle of online marriage:
submitting an application;
confirming intent;
conducting the ceremony via video call with a registrar;
signing documents with an electronic signature;
receiving a digital and paper certificate.
The entire procedure takes about 20–30 minutes.
Demand for digital services is growing
Online marriage registration is already in high demand. Over 41,000 couples have already gotten married through digital civil registry offices in Kyiv, Lviv, and Dnipro.
It was precisely Ukrainians’ high interest in digital services that prompted the creation of a similar option—a quick and convenient online divorce.
What will this change for Ukrainians?
The launch of online divorce through Diia will significantly simplify bureaucratic procedures. Citizens will be able to:
submit an application without visiting government offices;
save time;
complete the process as quickly as possible and remotely.
At the same time, the service will remain available only for straightforward cases without additional legal complications.
It is expected that the new feature will be another step toward the full digitization of government services in Ukraine and will make interacting with the government even more convenient.
