Ukrzaliznytsia now allows students to purchase discounted tickets online through its app, bypassing lines and ticket windows. Find out how the new feature works, in which regions it is available, and how to book a discounted ticket
Ukrzaliznytsia has expanded the functionality of its mobile app and simplified the process of purchasing discounted tickets for students. From now on, discounted tickets can be purchased online—without waiting in line at ticket offices or dealing with paper paperwork. This was announced by the carrier’s press service.
This applies to commuter trains and the Kyiv City Express, where the student discount is now applied automatically during payment in the app.
Where are discounted student tickets already available online?
In the first phase, the new feature covers 19 regions of Ukraine. These include: Kyiv, Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, Chernihiv, Khmelnytskyi, Cherkasy, Lviv, Volyn, Ternopil, Rivne, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zakarpattia, Chernivtsi, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia regions.

How do I buy a student ticket in the “Ukrzaliznytsia” app?
The process is as simple as possible and takes just a few minutes. To do this, you need to:
1. Open the “Ukrzaliznytsia” app on your smartphone.
2. Select the “Suburban” or “Kyiv City Express” section.
3. Specify the departure and arrival stations.
4. Select the “Student Ticket” option instead of a full-price ticket.
5. Enter the series and number of your student ID.
6. Tap “Add Discount.”
7. Pay for the trip
After that, the ticket automatically displays the discount without any further action. This update is part of Ukrzaliznytsia’s digital transformation, which is gradually moving key services online.
