Europe’s first Ukrainian Unity Center—Unity Hub Berlin—opened in Berlin on April 15. The space was created to support Ukrainians who are abroad due to the war, reports DW.

Where is Unity Hub Berlin located, and how does it operate?

The center is located at Jägerstraße 54 in Berlin. It is currently operating in test mode daily from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The organizers promise to post the latest news and schedule updates on their official Facebook page.

Unity Hub Berlin is designed as a multifunctional space where Ukrainians can receive both practical assistance and access to a community.

What kind of assistance is available at the center?

Unity Hub Berlin offers a wide range of services for Ukrainians abroad. Key areas include:

● consultations on pension benefits in Ukraine;

● explanations regarding social benefits;

● assistance with housing issues;

● informational support regarding government services;

● educational and cultural programs for children and adults.

This initiative did not arise by chance. It is directly linked to upcoming changes in the status of Ukrainians in the EU. After 2027, temporary protection may be revoked, and people will have to either transition to national migration regimes or return to Ukraine.

In this context, the Unity Center is intended to serve as a point of support—a place where people can obtain up-to-date information on legal status, options for legalization, and next steps. At the same time, it is important to note that such issues often require an individual approach, so it may be helpful for Ukrainians to consult with immigration lawyers in advance, particularly through services like Visit Ukraine, to avoid mistakes when changing their status.

Who works at Unity Hub Berlin?

The center features both Ukrainian government agencies and service organizations. Specifically, representatives of the Pension Fund of Ukraine, specialists from the state-owned enterprise “Document,” the IT Hub team, and Ukrainian and international organizations assisting migrants will be working here.

The Berlin center will be the first in a network of similar spaces in Europe. According to the Minister of Social Policy, there are plans to open such hubs in other countries in the future, including the Czech Republic and Sweden.

The project is being implemented with Germany’s support: the country funded the center’s establishment, while Ukraine is responsible for its management through the Agency for National Unity.

We remind you! Germany is already reviewing its policy regarding refugees of draft age. Zelenskyy and Merz discussed the return of men for rotation in the Armed Forces of Ukraine due to status restrictions and reduced payments. Read about which Ukrainians face actual deportation.
