The “DP Document” passport service in Chisinau is switching to a new format for booking appointments in the electronic queue. Starting April 20, 2026, registration will take place via Diya.Sign. This is reported on the company’s official website.

How will the new appointment system work?

In test mode, to join the electronic queue, users will need to undergo verification via Diya.Sign. This means that identity verification will take place online—directly during the appointment booking process. This approach is intended to ensure that only genuine users gain access to the queue, rather than third parties or automated systems.

Important: This change applies only to signing up for the electronic queue. The procedure for issuing already prepared documents remains unchanged. As before, you can obtain a passport or other document without a prior appointment.

Why is verification being introduced?

“DP Document” explains that this change is primarily a security measure. Its goal is to protect the electronic queue system from third-party interference, automated scripts, and mass ticket booking by third parties. The key objective is to ensure that every available slot is obtained by a person who truly needs the service, rather than scalpers or bots.

The introduction of verification via Diya.Sign is intended to reduce waiting times and make the process more transparent, although technical issues may arise during the testing phase.

If complex questions regarding status, legalization, or procedures arise while processing documents or while abroad, it is advisable to consult immigration lawyers. In particular, through Visit Ukraine, you can get professional advice to help you navigate the rules more quickly and avoid mistakes.

We remind you! Ukrainians abroad can apply for or renew a passport at a Ukrainian embassy or consulate. To do this, you must submit an application in person, prepare a set of documents, and take into account specific requirements for certain categories of applicants. Read more about what documents are required, how long the process takes, and how you can speed up the issuance of your passport.
