Ryanair is changing its check-in rules in 2026: when to arrive at the airport?
Ryanair is changing its check-in and baggage drop-off rules at airports starting in 2026. Find out when check-in closes, who the changes affect, and how to prepare for your trip
Ryanair has announced updates to its check-in and baggage drop-off rules at airports. The new requirements will take effect on November 10, 2026, and will directly affect the time passengers need to arrive at the airport. This is reported on the carrier’s official website.
What will change in Ryanair’s check-in rules?
The main change is an extension of the check-in and baggage drop-off deadline. Instead of the current 40 minutes before departure, these procedures will now close 60 minutes before the flight’s departure.
Ryanair explains that the changes are aimed at optimizing passenger flow and reducing the number of missed flights due to lines at security and passport control. These changes are being implemented amid a general increase in passenger traffic and pressure on airport infrastructure.

Self-service kiosks: what they are and how they work
At the same time, Ryanair is expanding the use of self-service kiosks for baggage check-in. By October 2026, the airline plans to install such kiosks in more than 95% of the airports in its network. The kiosks allow passengers to:
● check in their baggage independently;
● print baggage tags;
● complete the process faster without staff assistance.
The system is integrated with the Ryanair mobile app, making the process as automated and fast as possible.
The changes will primarily affect passengers traveling with checked baggage. According to the company’s estimates, this accounts for about 20% of customers. For the remaining 80% of passengers who do not check baggage, the procedure will remain unchanged: online check-in before arriving at the airport and proceeding directly to security and boarding.
However, even these passengers should take the new timeframes into account, as the total time spent at the airport may increase due to lines.
Tip: To avoid pre-flight stress, it’s important to plan your route to the airport in advance and book tickets with ample time for connections. In particular, through Visit Ukraine, you can conveniently book tickets for various modes of transport—this allows you to better plan your trip and arrive at the airport on time.
We remind you! Airport delays are increasing in Europe due to the EES system, and Ryanair is threatening to cancel flights to Malta. Read what’s happening, what the risks are for travelers, and how to prepare for your trip.
