The Best European Destinations for Last-Minute Trips: Where Are Travelers Booking Last-Minute Trips?
Last-minute trips around Europe are becoming increasingly popular, with travelers increasingly choosing Eastern Europe, the Baltics, and the Balkans. Find out which destinations have seen the biggest increase in bookings and why they appeal to travelers
Spontaneous travel is gaining popularity in Europe, and tourists’ interest is shifting toward Eastern Europe, the Baltics, and the Balkans. According to a report by Travel Horizons from lastminute.com, travelers are increasingly choosing less crowded destinations — from Poland to Albania.
Why is spontaneous travel becoming more popular?
Last-minute trips appeal to tourists because of their flexibility, the chance to find great deals, and the ability to avoid overly popular destinations. Instead of classic tourist capitals, travelers are increasingly turning their attention to cities with a rich history, more affordable prices, and fewer tourists.
That is why destinations in Eastern Europe, the Baltics, and the Balkans stand out in the lastminute.com report — regions that combine cultural landmarks, vibrant city life, and comfortable conditions for short trips.

Bucharest, Romania: architecture, history, and urban rhythm
Bucharest took second place in the ranking, with bookings up 71%.
The Romanian capital is known for its mix of architectural styles — from Art Deco to monumental buildings from the communist era. One of the city’s most famous landmarks is the Palace of Parliament, considered one of the largest administrative buildings in the world.
Bucharest is ideal for tourists seeking a vibrant city getaway with museums, cafes, nightlife, and interesting itineraries without excessive tourist crowds.
Krakow, Poland: A Classic for a Short Trip

The city attracts visitors with its historic center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, its large market square, and Wawel Royal Castle. Albanian Coast: Beaches Without the Crowds
Among seaside destinations, the Albanian coast stands out — its popularity has grown by 53%.
Tourists are drawn to the beaches on the Ionian Sea, particularly Ksamil, Saranda, and Dhermi.
The Albanian coast is also appealing for its proximity to archaeological sites, picturesque landscapes, and vibrant nightlife.
This is a destination for those who want to combine the sea, more affordable prices, and a less formal resort vacation.
Riga, Latvia: The Baltics for a Relaxing City Break
