- Where are Ukrainians going on vacation this summer?
This summer, vacations in Ukraine have become significantly more expensive—vacation budgets have risen by 25–40% compared to last season. Find out how much accommodation, food, and entertainment cost in different regions and where Ukrainians plan to go this summer
This summer, vacationing in Ukraine is taking a noticeable toll on wallets — the average vacation budget has risen by 25–40% compared to last season. This estimate comes from the analytics department of Ribas Hotels Group, whose data is cited by Interfax-Ukraine. The price hikes have affected all aspects of travel: lodging, food, transportation, and entertainment.

Why has vacationing become more expensive?
There are two main reasons. The first is the consistently high demand for domestic tourism amid restrictions on travel abroad. The second is the rise in operating costs for the hotel industry: the cost of electricity for businesses in 2026 is 11.50–12.50 UAH per kWh, compared to 10.4 UAH last year, and fuel prices have risen by 13.2% annually. Hotels factor all of this into their room rates.
Accommodation: From a Country Inn to a Premium Hotel—How Much Does a Night Cost
The largest expense on any vacation is accommodation, which accounts for 40 to 50% of the total budget. In high-end hotels, this share may be even higher, as the room rate includes not just a place to sleep, but an entire infrastructure: a spa, pools, and a high level of service.
In 2026, the price landscape looks like this:
● Country estates and basic apartments — 800–1,500 UAH/night (in 2025 it was 600–1,200 UAH);
● Aparthotels and 3-star hotels — 1,800–3,500 UAH/night (a year ago — 1,200–2,600 UAH);
● Hotels with a spa, pool, and high-quality service — 3,500–6,000 UAH/night (previously — 3,000–5,000 UAH);
● Premium hotels — from 6,000 to 12,000+ UAH/night.
In other words, each segment has, on average, become several hundred hryvnias more expensive per night. Food: 500 to 2,000 UAH per person per day
The second-largest expense category — food — accounts for 20 to 30% of the vacation budget. This includes both main meals and “experiential” expenses: coffee with a mountain view, an evening cocktail, and regional cuisine.
Estimated daily food budget per person:
● breakfast — 200–400 UAH;
● lunch — 300–600 UAH;
● dinner — 400–800 UAH.
“Thus, the average daily cost per person ranges from a minimum of 500–700 UAH to a comfortable 1,500–2,000 UAH,” explains Yelyzaveta Voloshyna, Head of B2C Sales and Marketing at Ribas Hotels Group.
Transportation: from bus tickets to car fuel
Logistics accounts for 10–15% of the vacation budget. Train or bus tickets cost between 500 and 2,500 UAH per person, and a transfer to the hotel costs 200–1,000 UAH. If you’re traveling by car, fuel will cost 1,500–5,000 UAH per trip, depending on the distance.
Entertainment and activities: the most variable expense category
Leisure and miscellaneous expenses usually account for about 10% of the total vacation budget—but this category is the most flexible. Analysts at Ribas Hotels Group have specific figures for mountain resorts:
● ski lifts — 200–800 UAH;
● hot tub — 1,000–3,000 UAH;
● spa — 300–1,000 UAH/day;
● ATV or jeep tour — 1,500–4,000 UAH.
The average daily cost for activities per person ranges from 500 to 2,500 UAH. The total minimum daily budget (accommodation + meals + activities + souvenirs) starts at 2,000 UAH per person.
Where are Ukrainians going on vacation this summer?
According to a Rakuten Viber survey, 51% of Ukrainians do not plan to take a vacation in 2026. At the same time, 23% plan to vacation with loved ones in Ukraine, while 15% want to travel abroad.
Among those who do choose domestic tourism, mountain resorts have become the top destinations. Ribas Hotels Group cites modern tourism offerings, relative safety, health benefits, diverse activities, and excursions as the advantages of such vacations. The downsides include unstable weather, high costs during peak season, and large crowds.
Demand for short getaways in cities and suburbs is also growing significantly. Among the advantages are developed infrastructure, the ability to change your leisure plans on any given day, a wide range of options from budget to premium, and a greater number of accommodations. If this format appeals to you, you can find city tours across Ukraine and ready-made weekend itineraries on Visit Ukraine.
Seaside vacations are currently concentrated almost exclusively in the Odesa region, but even there the situation is mixed. “Unfortunately, choosing a seaside destination has its downsides, including security concerns and closed beaches, as well as underdeveloped infrastructure and a limited number of hotels where the price matches the quality,” Voloshyna noted.
Despite rising costs, the company emphasizes: vacationing in 2026 remains a necessity — for restoring both physical and mental strength. “What Ukrainians need most today is rest and a safe place where they can recharge. And although access to international travel is currently limited, there are many places in Ukraine where you can relax on a variety of budgets," Voloshyna concluded.
We remind you! The Carpathians offer dozens of hiking trails of varying difficulty — from easy walks to multi-day treks across mountain ranges with overnight stays in mountain huts. The Visit Ukraine portal has compiled tours to Hoverla, Pip Ivan, Svidovets, the Gorgany, and other iconic locations that are suitable for both beginners and experienced travelers.
