A stay at a five-star hotel is a dream for many, one that most consider out of reach due to the cost. But a new study shows that if you choose the right destination, luxury can be much more affordable than it seems. The latest 2026 Hotel Price Index from the online platform Hotels.com has identified the 10 most affordable five-star destinations in the world. The Daily Mail reports on the study’s findings.

The Vietnamese beach city topped the ranking, and among the winners were several cities well-known to Ukrainian travelers—including Wrocław in Poland and Tallinn in the Baltic region.

● Nha Trang, Vietnam — £70 (about 4,171 UAH)

● Zaragoza, Spain — £120 (about 7,151 UAH)

● Wrocław, Poland — £120 (about 7,151 UAH)

● Tirana, Albania — £130 (about 7,747 UAH)

● Heraklion (Crete), Greece — 135 pounds (about 8,045 UAH)

● Tallinn, Estonia — £140 (about 8,343 UAH)

● Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic — £140 (about 8,343 UAH)

It is telling that seven out of the ten cities in the ranking are European. At the same time, the list is dominated by capitals and major cities in the Balkan and Baltic regions, rather than traditional tourist hotspots like Paris or Amsterdam.

Nha Trang — the unrivaled leader: 70 pounds for a five-star night

Vietnam’s Nha Trang took first place by a wide margin: the average price for a night in a five-star hotel here is 70 pounds, which is approximately 4,171 hryvnias.

By comparison, in second and third place in the ranking, the price jumps to 120 pounds.

Nha Trang is a famous beach resort on Vietnam’s southern coast with a well-developed hotel infrastructure, where even the most luxurious hotels maintain competitive prices thanks to the country’s lower overall cost of living.

European cities in the ranking: from Wrocław to Tallinn

For Ukrainians living abroad or planning a trip to Europe, it is particularly interesting that several affordable luxury destinations are located in neighboring or easily accessible countries.

Wrocław (Poland) offers five-star accommodations for £120—one of the most affordable options on the continent. The city, with its rich architecture and vibrant tourism infrastructure, is becoming increasingly popular among travelers.

Riga, Zagreb, and Tallinn offer five-star hotels in the £130–£140 range. All three cities are compact, aesthetically pleasing, with well-preserved historic centers and convenient transport links from most Central European countries.

Tirana and Sofia represent the Balkan region—a still-underrated tourist destination where the quality of service in top-tier hotels significantly exceeds expectations for the price.

If you’re planning a road trip to one of these countries, don’t forget to apply for a Green Card — you can do this online without waiting in line via Visit Ukraine.

Where luxury hotel prices are falling: new opportunities

A Hotels.com study also identified another trend: in a number of cities, the cost of staying in five-star hotels has dropped significantly compared to the previous year.

The most notable price drops were recorded in:

● Loire, France — down 32%;

● Edmonton, Canada — down 31%;

● St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands — down 30%;

● Dortmund, Germany — down 21%;

● Turin, Italy — down 21%.

This means that even cities traditionally associated with expensive accommodations now offer significantly better deals.

When and how should you book to get the best price?

Hotels.com has also identified specific patterns for getting the best deals. The best time to search for a luxury hotel is one week before check-in: that’s when the best deals most often appear. And if you have flexibility in your check-in date, aim for Sunday evenings: according to the study, this is the cheapest day for luxury bookings.

We remind you! July is the most popular month for vacations in Europe, but travelers are increasingly choosing off-the-beaten-path destinations instead of crowded resorts. Read where travel experts recommend going in July 2026.
