The main question that arises is: is it necessary to travel to Ukraine in person for this?

What documents from Ukraine are required to get married abroad?
The Visit Ukraine legal team faced a complex task that spanned several areas simultaneously.
We needed to obtain a duplicate birth certificate in Ukraine, an extract from the State Register of Civil Status Acts regarding a change of surname (which also contained information about the marriage registration), as well as a copy of a court decision from a Ukrainian court. In addition, each document had to be apostilled in accordance with international law and certified by a sworn translator for use abroad.
Is it necessary to travel to Ukraine in person to obtain the documents, apostille, and translation?
No. The entire process can be completed remotely, without being physically present in Ukraine, and that is exactly what was done in this case.
Visit Ukraine’s lawyers independently prepared the necessary applications, obtained the documents from government agencies and the court, arranged the apostille procedure through Ukraine’s authorized bodies, and ensured that a certified translation was completed in accordance with the destination country’s requirements. After all procedures were completed, the finished package of documents was safely sent abroad via an international courier service.
