The Carpathian region remains one of the most popular tourist destinations in Ukraine. Mountain vistas, lakes, waterfalls, hot springs, and Hutsul culture attract travelers year-round. Affordable tours departing from Lviv let you see the most interesting spots in one or two days while staying within a budget of up to 2,000 UAH.

We’ll tell you more about which routes to consider and what’s included in the itineraries below.

One-day tours of the Carpathians from Lviv: Yaremche, Bukovel, and the Tustan Fortress

For those who want to spend a full day in the mountains without staying overnight, there are several tried-and-true routes. The “Carpathians in 1 Day” tour offers a visit to the Tustan rock fortress in Urych, including a tour of the museum exhibition, a ride on the chairlift to the summit of Mount Pohar in Slavske, and a visit to the Kamianka Waterfall. The route passes through the picturesque Skolivski Beskydy, so lovers of mountain panoramas will definitely appreciate this trip.

The “Yaremche + Bukovel in 1 Day” tour combines two iconic resorts of the Carpathian Foothills. Participants will visit the cascading Probiy Waterfall, stop by the souvenir market, and then head to Bukovel. There, you can take the chairlift up the mountain, try the toboggan run or the trolley, or simply stroll through the resort. The trip takes a full day and concludes in the evening with a return to Lviv.

Another option is “Yaremche for 1 Day + Gedzio Park”. In addition to the Probiy Waterfall and the “Hutsulshchyna” restaurant, the itinerary includes the Dovbush Trail and the “Gedzio” Park of Legends—a themed space dedicated to Carpathian legends and folklore.

Mavka Water Park and rafting on the Cheremosh: active recreation in the Carpathians

The “Mavka Water Park in Bukovel + Yaremche” tour combines two types of recreation. First, you’ll explore Yaremche, its famous Probiy Waterfall, and the wooden “Hutsulshchyna” restaurant. Next, participants head to the “Mavka” Water Park in Bukovel, where water attractions and relaxation areas await. This itinerary is well-suited for family trips.

For adventure lovers, there is a two-day tour “Rafting on the Cheremosh and Bukovel”. The first day begins with a visit to the Galician National Nature Park and the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, followed by a stop in Yaremche and a cable car ride to the summit of Mount Bukovel.

Overnight stays take place at Hutsul eco-tourism homestays in Verkhovyna. The second day is dedicated to rafting down the Black Cheremosh River between Dzembronya and Verkhovyna, and the itinerary concludes with a visit to the “Grandfather’s Pharmacy” tasting museum in Kryvorivnia.

Lake Synevyr, bears, and the Borzhava mountain pasture: tours to the National Park

Synevyr National Park is one of the most famous natural destinations in the Carpathians. You can reach it via several routes, each offering its own set of experiences.

The “Cable Car to Borzhava and Synevyr” tour begins with a cable car ride up Mount Hymba in Pylypets, offering panoramic views of the Borzhava Ridge. The route then leads through the Synevyr Pass to the Brown Bear Rehabilitation Center and Lake Synevyr itself. The entire route takes one day.

The “Lake Synevyr and Shipit Waterfall” tour offers a visit to one of the region’s highest waterfalls—Shipit in Pylypets—instead of the Borzhava mountain pasture. The rest of the route is the same: the Synevyr Pass, the bear center, and the lake.

The third option—“Lake Synevyr, Bears, Mountains, and the Chairlift”—starts with the pass and the lake and ends with a ride on the chairlift in Mizhhiria. All three tours are designed for one day, departing from Lviv or Stryi.

Two-day tours of Transcarpathia: thermal springs, castles, and tastings

Transcarpathia deserves a trip of its own, and two-day tours allow you to cover the region’s main attractions. The “Thermal Transcarpathia” Relaxation Tour includes a tour of St. Miklós Castle in Chynadiyevo, a dip in the thermal pools of Kosyno, a tasting of Transcarpathian wines, and a walk through Uzhhorod with a visit to the castle. The itinerary concludes with a dip in traditional vats in Lumshory. Over two days, participants get to experience both the cultural and natural heritage of the region.

“The Cheese and Wine Tour of Transcarpathia” focuses on gastronomic experiences. On the first day—a tour of the Schönborn Palace, a visit to Mukachevo Castle, a swim in the thermal pool in Berehove, and a tasting of local wines. The second day begins with a tasting of Transcarpathian cheese in Vynogradiv and continues with a trip to the Synevyr Pass, Lake Synevyr, and the Brown Bear Rehabilitation Center.
