Poland has canceled the simplified conditions for moving pets from Ukraine. From now on, the conditions will meet the general criteria of EU legislation. Learn more about the new rules
The Polish authorities are canceling the simplified conditions for non-commercial transportation of pets (dogs, cats, ferrets) from the territory of Ukraine starting from 27.03.2023. This is reported by the Main Department of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection in Ivano-Frankivsk region, according to official information from the competent authority of the Republic of Poland.
New rules for importing pets to Poland
From now on, the conditions of transportation will meet the general criteria of the European Union legislation, taking into account the specifics defined by Regulation (EU) No. 576/2013, including
• the animal must be identified with a microchip (transponder) or a clear-to-read tattoo applied before July 03, 2011;
• the animal must have a valid rabies vaccination (the date of vaccination must not precede the date of application of the transponder or tattoo or the date of reading the transponder or tattoo indicated in the relevant section of the identification document; revaccination should be considered as primary vaccination if it was not carried out during the validity period of the previous vaccination)
• a current serological test to determine the titer of rabies antibodies (the level of neutralizing antibodies to rabies virus in the blood serum is equal to or greater than 0.5 IU / ml) must be performed;
• the animal must have an approved form of the Animal Health Certificate for non-commercial transportation to the EU Member States.
Temporarily, until a separate cancellation, subject to the availability of an appropriate test result, a waiting period of three months from the date of blood collection for a serological test to determine the titer of rabies antibodies before the date of non-commercial transportation will not be required.
As you know, since the beginning of russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, most countries have lifted any restrictions on the export of pets. Ukrainians were given the opportunity to export their pets without documents, microchips, or even appropriate vaccinations. However, such rules are now being canceled.
