Polish women have worsened their attitude towards Ukrainian refugees: what is the reason?
Recent surveys by the University of Warsaw have revealed a significant deterioration in the attitude of Polish women towards Ukrainian women who have found refuge in Poland. Find out more about the reasons for the hostility and what Polish women fear
Research and surveys conducted by the University of Warsaw have revealed that there is a decline in the desire to help Ukrainians among Polish residents. The reasons for the deterioration in attitudes towards Ukrainians are discussed further in the article.
Polish women are confused by the increasing number of Ukrainian women in the country: what is the reason?
Currently, about 1.2 million Ukrainians, mostly women, have found refuge in Poland.
This has caused a deterioration in the attitude of Polish women towards Ukrainians arriving in the country. According to a recent study by the University of Warsaw's Research LAB, which was conducted from May to June, it is among women under the age of 29 who are most likely to dislike Ukrainians.
There are several reasons for this concern. Firstly, Polish women fear growing competition in the labour market. Secondly, the huge number of Ukrainian women in Poland makes Polish women anxious about the high level of competition in the marriage market.
After all, the number of weddings between Poles and Ukrainians in Poland is growing rapidly every day. It is also noted that Polish dating sites are dominated by women, which makes it much more difficult to find a husband.
Other reasons for Poles' fears
However, it is noted that not only Polish women are concerned about the situation with Ukrainian refugees.
According to the study, the number of Poles who feel threatened by Ukrainian refugees has increased by 12%. It is noted that locals fear an increase in crime, inflation and clashes with Ukrainians due to different cultural views.
67% still have a positive attitude towards Ukrainian refugees, but there has been a significant decline in this trend. Compared to January 2023, the number of Poles who are friendly towards Ukrainians has decreased by 13%.
