Driving in winter requires much more concentration from the driver, as the situation on the road can become dangerous at any time due to severe weather conditions. However, in Poland, drivers should be careful not only while driving, but also when planning to go on business, as winter Polish fines can ruin your wallet.

We talked about the general rules of driving in Poland in winter earlier. Read on to find out how fines have increased and what drivers will be punished for this year.

Winter fines for drivers in Poland: how much will you have to pay?

Penalty for running the engine and warming up the car

If a driver starts a car and leaves it warming up near xb apartment buildings in public places for more than 2 minutes (this rule does not apply in the yard of a private house), he or she risks a fine of 50 PLN (~$13).

At the same time, if the driver starts the car and goes out to clear snow from the body while the car is warming up, he or she will receive a fine of 300 PLN (~$76).

Penalty for idling a car with the engine running

Drivers will have to pay 100 PLN (~$25) for idling a car with the engine running in a construction zone.

Penalty for turning off the hazard lights

In conditions of reduced visibility, drivers may be fined 150-300 PLN (~38-76 USD) for stopping or parking a car, as well as 200 PLN (~50 USD) for not turning on the lights while driving.

Penalty for snow on the license plate, headlights and car body

300 PLN (~$76) will have to be paid by drivers whose car's headlights are not cleared of snow. In addition, the driver will be charged 8 penalty points.

500 PLN (~$126) + 8 penalty points - a fine for not clearing the car's registration numbers from snow.

3,000 PLN (~$754) + 15 penalty points temporary withdrawal of the registration card from the driver - a fine for insufficiently clearing the car of snow.

Penalty for bald and summer tires

Despite the fact that there are no specific dates when this rule comes into force, drivers may be fined 500 PLN (~$126) for driving on "bald" tires (subject to appropriate weather conditions).

Please note that when planning to travel to Poland by car, winter rules and fines are not the only important aspect. After all, without an appropriate car insurance policy, you risk not only your own finances but also your health. To drive a car in Poland and 44 other countries, it is mandatory to have a Green Card insurance policy. You can purchase such insurance for a short period of time on the Visit Ukraine website.

We remind you! An accident can happen at the most unexpected moment, both on the way to work and while traveling, especially during the cold season. However, people experience even more stress when they get into an accident outside their home country. Read how to act in the event of a road accident abroad and how to receive compensation in our previous article.
