Airbnb has responded to growing concerns about customer privacy and the possibility of violating their personal space. Learn more about the changes and when they will take effect
Airbnb has announced changes to its policy that completely prohibit the use of internal cameras in rental rooms. This is stated on the company's website.
Airbnb has banned landlords from installing cameras
Previously, the service allowed owners to have cameras in common areas, but banned them in bedrooms and bathrooms. Now Airbnb has revised these rules.
Owners must report the presence of external cameras on the property. These cameras cannot be directed inside the room or located in areas where more privacy is expected, such as showers or saunas.
However, owners can install doorbell cameras and noise monitors, but cannot record or transmit audio information.
These new rules will come into effect on April 30. Landlords who violate them may be removed from Airbnb.
