Ukrainians can now use railway services to travel abroad. Now 28 flights are available for citizens, which run to European cities. Find out how busy these services are and what to do if you have not had time to buy a ticket
Since the beginning of the war, Ukrainians have lost the ability to travel abroad by air. However, this was replaced by trains, which now run to various European cities. Thus, rail has become the main mode of transport for travelling out of Ukraine. Here is a look at the destinations that Ukrainians have chosen to travel to abroad most often since the beginning of the year.
Since the beginning of 2024, almost 800,000 people have used Ukrzaliznytsia's international flights, and the company expects passenger traffic to grow by summer, the company said.
Where do Ukrainians most often travel by train?
Thus, this year, the largest number of passengers was transported in connection with Przemysl - 451 thousand, with Chełm - 226 thousand, with Warsaw - more than 82 thousand.
As for trains, the most popular is the flight No. 67/68 Kyiv - Warsaw. However, since this train uses RIC cars that can run on both Ukrainian and European gauge, the number of seats is limited. Therefore, it is difficult to get tickets for this train, but using our booking system, you can buy tickets for this and other trains in advance, choosing the dates that are convenient for you.
At the same time, UZ suggests that if a passenger did not have time to buy a ticket for this train, they should consider the Lviv - Rava-Ruska - Warsaw train, as well as flights to Chełm and Przemyśl. Sales of these tickets open 20 days before the train departure.

Railway traffic will increase
Demand for rail travel is expected to increase in the summer. "Ukrzaliznytsia is already actively preparing for the season. Therefore, it is worth considering early ticket booking.
As you know, there are only 28 trains running internationally: 14 from the largest cities of Ukraine and another 14 from border cities.
In particular, trains run from Ukrainian settlements to Poland, Austria, the Czech Republic, Moldova, Hungary, and Slovakia.
