Traveling is an incredible opportunity to relax your body and soul, recharge your batteries with positive impressions and get to know our wonderful, picturesque and diverse Ukraine!

Let's take a look at Ukraine from a new angle and discover a piece of Scotland, the Netherlands, or even the famous Venice.

In the previous article, we talked about flight delays and cancellations, as well as the possibility of receiving compensation from the airline.

Windmills in Vodyanyky

The complex of ancient windmills in the village of Vodianyky, Cherkasy region, is almost identical to the famous windmills in Kinderdijk near Rotterdam.

Thanks to its good location, tourists can also visit the Buksky Canyon, one of the most beautiful places in central Ukraine. The Hirsky Tikych River flows through here, surrounded by high rocky banks. This unique area, characteristic of steppe Ukraine, is often called “little Switzerland” for its incredible scenery and natural beauty.

Plebaniv Viaduct

In the Ternopil region, near the village of Plebanivka, there is an impressive railway viaduct. Built in the 19th century by the Austro-Hungarians, it consists of nine stone arches. A similar viaduct is located in the Scottish village of Glenfinnan and became famous thanks to the Harry Potter films, where the Hogwarts Express rushed along it.

The Plebanivskyi Viaduct attracts tourists with its majesty, power and cinematic beauty. Today it is the hallmark of the city of Terebovlia. Fascinating excursions and cycling routes are organized here, allowing you to enjoy not only the architectural beauty of the viaduct, but also the picturesque surroundings of the region.

Lake Synevyr

The famous Synevyr Lake in the Zakarpattia region is one of the main symbols of the Ukrainian Carpathians. It is located at an altitude of almost 1,000 meters above sea level and is surrounded by centuries-old spruce and pine trees. The lake is also surrounded by mystical stories and legends that add to its special appeal.

Similar in beauty and mystery to Synevyr is the Green Lake in Austria, located among the alpine mountains and forests near the town of Trages. This lake, also called the park under water, is known for the fact that its water level rises only in certain months, flooding the valley. Then divers from all over the world come to the lake to swim among the flooded benches, shrubs and trees, which creates unique underwater landscapes.

The main reason to visit Synevyr is its beauty and clean mountain air, but there are several other interesting things to do here. For example, you can order a horseback ride, a photo shoot, go rafting or cycling, and taste real mineral water, which has a good effect on the gastrointestinal tract. Every year in August, the All-Ukrainian festival “Trembitas Call to Synevyr” is held on the banks of the Synevyr.

Oleshky Sands

If you have long dreamed of going on a real African safari, now you don't need to fly to another continent in search of exotic fauna! Near the town of Kakhovka, which is 100 km from Kherson, there is the Askania-Nova reserve. This is a unique corner of untouched nature, where birds and animals that are amazing for our region live in free conditions.

In Askania-Nova, you can meet camels, zebras, flamingos, antelopes, llamas, steppe eagles, horses, cranes, bison, buffaloes and saigas. You won't find such close contact with the fauna even in a zoo: peacocks walk proudly nearby, and you just need to stroke a pony.

You can feel the atmosphere of a real desert in the Kherson region, in the Oleshky Sands reserve. Huge sandy areas were formed here in the XVIII-XIX centuries due to mass grazing. This area is often called the “Ukrainian Sahara,” although the reserve bears little resemblance to the real Sahara. However, the Ramlat el-Wahiba desert in Oman can be confidently called the closest relative of the Oleshky Sands.

Unfortunately, due to the explosion of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station, some parts of the national park were flooded, which has a negative impact on the local natural landscapes. But we are confident that after the victory over the occupier, we will be able to restore everything and enjoy the incredible pearls of the Ukrainian Kherson region again!

Here are some unusual places for summer vacation in Ukraine.

Lviv

Lviv is one of the main tourist destinations in Ukraine, often compared to Prague. This city fascinates with colorful old houses built in the traditional Austro-Hungarian style, narrow streets, and numerous coffee shops and beer joints. The legends and romantic stories that envelop Lviv attract travelers from all over the world.

The central Rynok Square, with its 65-meter-high City Hall, is one of Lviv's most famous landmarks. We also recommend visiting the Opera House, Shevchenkivskyi Hai Museum of Folk Life, Arsenal Museum of Weapons, House of Scientists, Dominican Church, and Potocki Palace. Don't miss the opportunity to climb to the highest point of the city - the High Castle Mountain (413 meters).

Lviv is also known for its culinary traditions. Try having lunch at Kryivka and visit a chocolate workshop to see how real Lviv chocolate is made. Shevchenkivskyi Hai and Stryiskyi Park are great for relaxing and walking. Lviv combines ancient and modern cultural sites, creating a unique atmosphere that fascinates every visitor.

Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi fortress

The Belgorod-Dniester Fortress, also known as the Akkerman Fortress, is an impressive monument of medieval defensive architecture and the largest fortress in Eastern Europe. Its power and size are truly impressive. The most important part of the fortress was the Citadel, which was defended by 4 towers that formed a small courtyard of about 300 square meters. The towers, 20 meters high, give the fortress a majestic appearance.

The fortress was built in the 13th century on the picturesque shore of the Dniester estuary. It is a prime example of European medieval fortification architecture. The appearance of the Ukrainian fortress is reminiscent of Conwy Castle in Wales, UK, which emphasizes its historical significance and architectural value.

This fortress is not only a historical monument, but also an important tourist attraction that attracts visitors with its rich history and picturesque views. Visiting the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi Fortress, you can plunge into the medieval atmosphere and feel the spirit of bygone eras.

Chernivtsi University

Chernivtsi, like Prague, fascinates with its colorful streets that seem to transport you to ancient Europe. From the very first moment, the city impresses, creating the feeling of traveling through time. One of the main streets that you should definitely visit is Olga Kobylianska Street. This street, once inhabited by noblemen, is now the pride of Chernivtsi. According to legend, it was swept with bouquets of roses, which adds a special charm and romance to the street.

The next attraction is Chernivtsi National University. It is one of the oldest universities in Ukraine, and its architecture is reminiscent of famous European universities such as Cambridge and the Sorbonne. Located within the walls of a former metropolitan's residence, the university is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its impressive architectural complex is similar to the University of Oxford, which emphasizes its historical and cultural significance.

Chernivtsi is rich in historical buildings, including majestic town halls and cathedrals with frescoes. The Austro-Hungarian heritage has left its mark, creating a wealth of architectural monuments. The central square with a Turkish well and the original ship house are other attractions worth seeing.

Uzhhorod

To fall in love with Japan, you don't need to know Japanese or be a fan of anime. Ukraine has its own eastern oasis where you can feel the Japanese spirit: the cherry blossoms in Uzhhorod. When traveling around Ukraine in the first days of May, you can't miss this fantastic sight.

During this period, Uzhhorod turns into a pink fairy tale, reminiscent of scenes from Japanese movies where the main character walks in the rain of sakura petals. This is a real spectacle for aesthetes. The streets of Dovzhenko and Rakoczy are especially impressive, where white and purple magnolias bloom alongside the sakura, creating an even more breathtaking landscape.

The cherry blossom in Uzhhorod is a unique opportunity to enjoy the beauty of nature and feel part of Japanese culture without leaving Ukraine. This place attracts not only residents but also numerous tourists who want to see this miracle with their own eyes.

Vilkovo

The small town of Vilkovo, located in the south of Ukraine, 300 kilometers from Odesa, may seem unremarkable at first glance. With its inconspicuous name and small population of a few thousand people, Vilkovo does not often attract attention. However, this town has one unique feature - it is built on water!

Often called the Ukrainian Venice, Vylkove has a network of canals instead of ordinary streets and sidewalks. These canals, which are several meters wide, serve as the main transportation routes for locals to travel on their own “gondolas”.

In addition to the picturesque waterways, Vilkovo is also known for its clean and fresh air, which is a pleasant change from the smell of mold typical of Venice. This city on the water offers a unique experience and unforgettable impressions for those who want to discover something new and unusual in Ukraine.

Zalishchyky

The picturesque village of Zalishchyky is located in the Ternopil region, surrounded by the Dniester River, which forms a kind of water loop. This place is striking in its similarity to the famous Saar Loop in Mettlas, Germany. Surrounded by water on all sides, Zalishchyky resembles a peninsula connected to the mainland by only a small bridge. Located 120 km from Ternopil, this village offers breathtaking panoramic views.

However, it is not only the views that attract visitors' attention. Zalishchyky boasts a rich historical heritage, which it received thanks to the Polish protectorate. Among the local architectural landmarks are the ancient St. Szczepanow Church, the majestic mansion of Prince Poniatowski, and the Church of the Holy Trinity. These buildings are a testament to the rich history and cultural diversity of this region.

What attracts tourists to Zalishchyky? This small village resembles a picturesque corner of Germany known as the Saarschleife, where the Saar River surrounds the green hill of the village of Orsholz. Just like in Zalishchyky, the river creates a unique landscape that fascinates with its natural beauty and tranquil atmosphere.
