The capital of France is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. Millions of tourists come there every year to enjoy the city of love and have an unforgettable time. This year there is an even more favourable opportunity to visit Paris during the Olympics. An unprecedented flow of tourists, festivals and sporting events - it all kicks off in less than a month. Find out what places to eat in Paris and where to stay during the Olympics
Paris, a city that combines rich history with modern sophistication, is preparing to host the Olympic Games. For tourists and fans alike, this is a unique opportunity not only to enjoy the sporting events, but also to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the French capital. Where to stay and what to do in Paris during the Olympic Games is described below.
This year's Summer Olympics will take place from 26 July to 11 August. And the authorities expect more than 15 million tourists to visit the city. This is a very large number for the French capital, so you should plan your trip there in advance.
Where to stay in Paris during the Olympics?
Of course, when choosing a place to stay, we recommend choosing the city centre, as this is where the most important events of the Games will take place. You can get to the Olympic zones on foot, and all the sights of Paris are open to tourists there. However, it should be borne in mind that living in the centre of this city, and even during such an event, is not a cheap pleasure. And you may not be able to find places there anymore, but it's still worth a try.
Luxury hotels
When choosing a hotel, it's important to consider its location and customer feedback. One of the most prestigious hotels in Paris, the Ritz Paris, is located in the city centre, just over two kilometres from the Eiffel Tower. The hotel stands directly opposite the Vendôme Column, which is also considered one of the city's landmarks. You will have to pay 2.2 thousand euros for a night at this hotel.
Le Meurice is another luxury hotel in the central part of the French capital. The roof of this hotel offers views of the Eiffel Tower. The main feature is that the hotel's restaurant has two Michelin stars. But the prices are not exactly cheap either - about 1600 euros per night.
Also, according to customers, the Four Seasons Hotel George V Paris, located a few steps from the Champs Elysees, is very popular. It offers private terraces with magnificent views of Paris and Michelin-starred restaurants. Prices here start from two thousand euros and up.
Boutique hotels
For those who are looking for a more intimate and unique atmosphere, boutique hotels are suitable. For example, the Hôtel Des Grands Voyageurs, located two kilometres from the centre of Paris and highly rated by travellers. The convenient location makes this hotel very popular. Yes, it is located in the 6th arrondissement: Saint-Germain, but there is always a metro nearby to take you anywhere in the city. The price in this hotel is more pleasant - from 460 euros per night.
Le Pavillon des Lettres also offers stylish rooms and an individual approach to each guest. This hotel is located in the centre of Paris, 500 metres from the Champs Elysees. Usually, prices at this hotel are around 250 euros, but during the Olympics, the amounts have tripled - from 600 euros and above.
Hostels in Paris
For travellers on a tight budget, hostels and budget hotels are a good option. Moreover, the main thing on a trip is to get to know the beauty of the city and enjoy your time. Hostels in Paris are well maintained and modern, and their prices are much lower than in luxury hotels. For example, the designer hostel Generator Paris is located in the lively 10th arrondissement. There are numerous bars, restaurants and vintage shops within a 5-minute walk along the Canal Saint-Martin. For a room here you will have to pay about 100 euros/night.
Another popular hostel among young people is the St Christopher's Inn Paris, located in the centre of Paris, just 200 metres from the Gare du Nord. Again, prices are raised almost everywhere during the Olympics and this hostel is no exception. If in normal times you could rent a room for about 80 euros for a night, during the Games the prices will rise to 150 euros and more.
VU's tip: if you want to save money on accommodation, pay attention to the less popular areas of the city. For example, Saint Germain des Prés is one of the most famous districts of Paris, located a little further from the centre. Renting a hotel room or apartment in Saint-Germain-des-Prés is the perfect balance. You can visit the Olympic venues and also enjoy the beauty of Paris.
You can also consider options in the outlying districts of Paris (10, 12, 15, 18, 19 arrondissements).

How do I get around the city?
Paris has a well-developed transport system that makes getting around the city convenient and fast. The metro is one of the most popular ways to get around, covering almost the entire city. Please note that a metro ride during the Olympics will cost 4 euros, which is almost twice the usual price.
You can also use buses, trams and taxis. For those who prefer a more active holiday, Velib' bike rental is available.
Please note that during the Olympics, Paris intends to increase security measures. Some squares and streets may be closed, so you should be vigilant to avoid being questioned by law enforcement.
