Table of contents
Starting July 17, all men aged 18 to 60 will be checked for a military ID card when crossing the border. Learn more about the procedure
The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine warns that starting July 17, military registration documents will be required when crossing the border. This rule will apply to all men aged 18-60. Both paper and electronic versions of the document can be used, according to the State Border Guard Service spokesman Colonel Andriy Demchenko.
In a previous article, we wrote about which categories of men can leave Ukraine without hindrance and what documents they need to have.
Details of the new border crossing rules for men of military age
On July 16, according to the Law of Ukraine No. 3633-IX, the two-month period during which Ukrainians had to register for military service or update their military registration data expires. Therefore, after that, the requirements of paragraph 17 of the Procedure for Conscription of Citizens for Military Service during Mobilization, for a Special Period, approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 560 of May 16, 2024, will be fully implemented.
Therefore, starting from 00.00 on July 17, 2024, border guards will check all male citizens aged 18 to 60 for the availability and relevance of military registration documents when crossing the state border to leave.

In case of absence of military registration documents, crossing the state border will be denied. Another possible ground for refusal to travel abroad is the presence in the Unified State Register of Conscripts, Persons Liable for Military Service and Reservists of information about the person being put on the National Police wanted list. In such situations, law enforcement officers will be immediately called to the checkpoint.
The categories of persons entitled to travel abroad during martial law have not changed. Therefore, men aged 18-6 years who have a deferral from conscription or are excluded from military registration due to health problems may travel abroad if they have information in their military registration documents about receiving such a deferral (exclusion from military registration) or a certificate in a certain form.
Remember that to leave Ukraine in a car with Ukrainian registration, you must have a Green Card insurance policy. It is mandatory in 48 countries, including the EU. Without such insurance, the car will not be allowed to cross the border! In addition, the absence or delay of insurance is fraught not only with fines that are several dozen times the cost of the insurance policy for a year, but also with the seizure of the car and deportation from the country with a subsequent ban on entry. You can take out insurance for the required period on our website.
In 10 minutes, a policy that will cover all damages caused to the life, health and property of third parties is already in your mail. In addition, we are currently running a special offer on our portal - when you buy a policy for a period of 6 months or more, you are guaranteed to receive fuel as a gift. So don't hesitate and take out insurance with benefits!
Please note! The issued policy must be printed out, as each country currently has its own requirements, and some may refuse to accept the electronic form. However, the situation will change from January 1, 2025, as the General Assembly of the Motor Insurance System (MIS), in order to adapt modern technologies, has adopted a decision that will allow the use of the international Green Card insurance policy in electronic format in all member countries starting next year.
