A piece of Ukraine abroad: museums in 32 countries of the world already have Ukrainian-language audio guides
On the initiative of the First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, 50 Ukrainian-language audio guides have appeared in 32 countries of the world. These are 50 places of extraordinary cultural and historical significance, which were sounded in the Ukrainian language.
"When you choose a language on a foreign website, where there are dozens of options available, but there is no Ukrainian... When you go to a museum during a trip and ask for an audio guide, and they shrug their shoulders: only Russian... I think many of us are familiar with this feeling moment: as if the weight of your language and your country is belittled.
It is very important that none of the Ukrainians have this feeling anymore, especially now. This is one of the reasons why we are working on the introduction of Ukrainian audio guides in the most significant cultural monuments: because we want the whole world to hear our language", - Zelenska said.
In which countries did Ukrainian audio guides start their work?
The last four audio guides worked in Azerbaijan, Slovakia and Norway.
🇦🇿 In Azerbaijan - historical and artistic reserve "Hobustan". One of the first places on the planet where art was born. This is a unique place where more than six thousand rock paintings have been found.
🇸🇰 In Slovakia, this is an audio guide in the largest Gothic church in Bratislava, St. Martin's Church. In particular, it is the most important church of the Slovak capital, which is visited by millions of tourists.
🇳🇴 Two audio guides appeared in Norway at once:
• in the country's capital, Oslo: on the "Oslo Hop-on Hop-off bus" bus tour, which has already been tested among Ukrainians who have been sheltered by the country;
• in the Fram Museum with a unique exposition dedicated to polar expeditions.
Also, the appearance of Ukrainian audio guides was announced in two more museums in Austria - in the Imperial Treasury of Austria SCHATZKAMMER and one of the museums in Salzburg.
Zelenska emphasized that new attractions and new audio guides in Ukrainian are on the way so that Ukrainian citizens around the world can fully immerse themselves in their culture and feel that they are welcome. And at the same time, for the whole world - so that the Ukrainian language sounds in it at the top of its lungs.
