Serbia continues to accept refugees who want to wait for Ukraine's victory abroad. All newcomers receive temporary protection, so they are equal in rights to local residents. Here's how Ukrainians can extend their asylum.

How can Ukrainian citizens extend their temporary status in Serbia?

The authorities have extended the special status for Ukrainians until March 18, 2024. Those who already have a Temporary Protection Card should send email to [email protected], indicating

 Full name

 date and place of birth;

 address of residence in Serbia (please note that decisions on extension of status may be sent to this address);

 the number of the current decision and your passport.

Please note! Refugees who have applied for a temporary protection card at the Belgrade Center for Human Rights must apply to this institution to obtain a new document.

What does temporary protection in Serbia guarantee?

All temporarily displaced persons receive:

- A document confirming the right to stay in the country;

- medical protection

- free school education;

- access to the labor market.

Entry to Serbia in 2023

To get to Serbia, it is enough to have a valid passport. At the same time, we recommend taking out an insurance policy to protect yourself from risks and unnecessary expenses.

After crossing the border, you need to contact the Commissionerate for Refugees and Migration - you will be consulted and told how to prepare the necessary documents.
