Soon, Ukrainians living in Lithuania will no longer need to take an exam when exchanging their driving licence. The relevant agreement was recently signed by the Minister of the Interior of Lithuania Agne Bilotaite and the Minister of the Interior of Ukraine Ihor Klymenko.

We will tell you how the exchange of driving licences for Ukrainians will take place in the article below.

Earlier, we talked about all the intricacies of issuing an international driving licence on the basis of a national driving licence.

You can read the detailed instructions here.

Rules for exchanging a driving licence for Ukrainians in Lithuania

Currently, the driving licences of Ukrainian citizens are recognised in Lithuania, but Ukrainians had to pass an exam when exchanging a document for a Lithuanian one. This requirement has now been cancelled.

Ukrainians living in Lithuania were looking forward to the simplification of the procedure for renewing their driving licences.

 In the future, when exchanging category A and B driving licences, it will only be necessary to provide a package of documents:

  • a document proving permanent residence in Lithuania;
  • the original driving licence;
  • medical certificate.

The necessary procedures for approving the agreement are currently underway in Ukraine and Lithuania, and it will enter into force in a few months.
