What is a Green Card?
The Green Card is an international insurance policy that guarantees financial protection for vehicle owners abroad. It is mandatory for all drivers planning to travel outside Ukraine in their own vehicles. This system covers 44 countries in Europe, Asia, and Africa, providing compensation to victims in the event of a traffic accident, regardless of where the incident occurs. New limits will take effect in 2025, providing for compensation of up to €1.5 million for property damage and up to €6 million for injury or death of victims.
The Green Card issued on the Visit Ukraine platform has a number of advantages:
1. Legality of departure - entry to many countries is impossible without this document;
2. Financial protection - covers expenses in case of damage to third parties;
3. International recognition - valid without additional local insurance.
The policy takes only a few minutes to issue, and the electronic document has the same legal force as the paper version.
Your financial security outside Ukraine is a Green Card, which is easy and profitable to buy on the Visit Ukraine portal!
Please note! Starting in 2025, Ukraine has fully transitioned to the electronic Green Card policy. Drivers no longer need to carry a paper copy of the document—simply download the electronic version to a smartphone or tablet. This significantly simplifies policy verification and reduces the risk of losing it.
In a previous article, we also explained why you can no longer buy a Green Card at the border.

What documents do I need to travel abroad by car?
Before traveling abroad in your own car, you should prepare the necessary documents and take into account important nuances:
1. Foreign passport - must be valid for at least six months after the planned return.
2. Driver's license - must meet the requirements of the country of entry.
3. Car registration certificate - issued in the name of the driver or passenger.
4. UA identification mark - not required if the mark is on the license plate.
5. A Green Card policy is required for international travel.
Also, the car must be equipped with a state license plate with Latin letters, because individual license plates are valid only in Ukraine.
What amounts of coverage in case of an accident are valid in different countries?
The sum insured of the Green Card is determined by the legislation of the country where the accident occurred and is divided into: personal injury coverage and coverage of material damage caused to third parties. In different countries, the amounts vary from several thousand to several million euros.
At the same time, there are countries that have no limits on payments for treatment in the event of an accident. This means that the victims will be fully compensated, and the culprit of the accident will not have to pay anything out of pocket. Such conditions apply in the following countries: Belgium, Great Britain, Finland, France, Israel, Ireland, Luxembourg, Norway, Tunisia, and the United Kingdom.
