This is a significant step in strengthening transport ties between Ukraine and Slovakia and will contribute to the development of tourism and other types of international cooperation. Learn more about the direct train
The government of the Slovak Republic has supported the initiative to introduce a direct rail link between Kyiv and Košice. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine.
A new train will be launched from Kyiv to Slovakia: details
According to Denis Žilakov, State Secretary of the Ministry of Transport of the Slovak Republic, this route will be useful for providing Ukrainians with access to the services of the international airport in Kosice.
It is planned that the train from Kyiv will reach the Haniska station near Košice via the Pavlovo-Matovske Vojkovce border crossing.
Preparations for the launch of the route are currently underway, including the installation of equipment for border and customs control, the change of the platform at Hanishka station near Košice, and the organization of bus service to the airport and Košice railway station.
In addition, it is planned to conclude a transportation services agreement with the Slovak Railways and find funding.
