May 2024 will be full of various professional, international and religious events in Ukraine. Among them are Easter, Labor Day, the Day of Remembrance and Victory over Nazism, Mother's Day, and many others. 


Here's a look at what holidays will take place in the last month of spring and how Ukrainians will spend their holidays.

Professional and public holidays in May 2024


In 2024, May has 31 calendar days: 23 working days and 8 official days off, which fall on Saturday and Sunday. 


Thus, Ukrainians will work on May 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 27, 28, 29, 30, and 31. The rest days are: May 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 19, 25 and 26.

• May 3 - World Press Freedom Day;

• May 5 - Easter (the date changes every year);

• May 9 - Europe Day (international);

• May 12 - Mother's Day, World Nurses Day;

• May 14 - Day of Remembrance of Ukrainians who saved Jews during World War II;

• May 15 - International Day of Families, International Climate Day;

• May 16 - International Day of Light;

• May 17 - World Telecommunication and Information Society Day;

• May 18 - Science Day, International Museum Day; Europe Day (Ukrainian);

• May 19 - All-Ukrainian Day of Cultural Workers, Day of Remembrance of Victims of Political Repression, World AIDS Day; International Hepatitis Day;

• May 20 - Science Day, Bankers' Day, Sign Language Interpreter Day;

• May 21 - International Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development;

• May 22 - International Day for Biological Diversity;

• May 23 - Day of Ukrainian Heroes;

• May 24 - Day of Slavic Writing and Culture;

• May 25 - Philologist's Day, Day of Publishers, Printing and Book Distribution Workers;

• May 26 - Day of Kyiv;

• May 28 - Border Guard Day;

• May 29 - International Day of UN Peacekeepers, World Healthy Digestion Day;

• May 31 - World No Tobacco Day.

Will there be additional days off in May 2024? 


Ukraine extended the martial law for another 90 days from February 14, 2023 to May 13, 2024. Thus, Ukrainians will have days off only on Saturday and Sunday. In particular, the Monday after Easter, May 6, will also be a working day.
