For the first time in its history, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has decided to introduce a digital personality that will use artificial intelligence technologies to officially comment on consular information for the media. This was reported in the press service of the Ministry.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs presented an AI spokesperson: details

The MFA's AI representative for consular affairs, Victoria, was created on the basis of Ukrainian singer Rosalie Nombre, who agreed to act as a prototype for the digital person. Her image was filmed and digitized by the project team.

It is worth noting that the consular representative and her real-life prototype are two different people, and only the digital person Victoria will make official comments on behalf of the MFA's consular service, the Ministry emphasized.

“My name symbolizes our main goal - the victory of Ukraine, and my surname is the artificial intelligence that created me. My job will be to provide the public with timely and verified information from the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. I will inform journalists about the work of consuls to protect the rights and interests of Ukrainian citizens abroad, respond to incidents or emergencies, and other news,” Victoria AI said in her welcome video message.

The AI spokesperson's comments will be published on the official resources of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, on the website and in social media, and will be sent to journalists by the MFA press service.

“Using an AI-generated digital persona for consular commentary is primarily about saving time and resources for the MFA. Real diplomats will be able to be more effective and focus on other tasks to help citizens,” emphasized Dmytro Kuleba, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

The MFA has also provided several levels of protection for Victoria against digital fakes. Each original video of the consular representative is accompanied by a QR code that redirects to the text version of the same commentary on the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. If there is no QR code or a link to another site, the video is not considered authentic.

We will remind you! After the introduction of consular restrictions for Ukrainian men, some EU countries allowed citizens to stay without a valid foreign passport, while others said they were ready to facilitate their return home. Look for the position of different states at the link.
