National energy operator Ukrenergo will provide each region with one day without power cuts. The restrictions will be lifted from 9 to 24 July, during which time one region of Ukraine will be connected to the power supply throughout the day. Here's why it's necessary and how these "one-time promotions" will work.

The company explains that it took this step for a reason, to analyse and see the behaviour of consumers when electricity is available and, accordingly, possibly adjust the schedules.

The analysis of the data will help ensure a more even and correct distribution of electricity. It is also expected to provide data on where decentralised generation projects should be implemented first, increasing the resilience of the power system to russian attacks.

How will it work?

For example, consumption restrictions will be lifted for two weeks in turn for the regions. In those regions where no metering will be carried out, the restrictions may be changed.

On what days and for whom will the electricity not be cut off?

9 July: Dnipropetrovska oblast;

10 July: Kyiv city;

11 July: Kyiv and Khmelnytskyi regions;

12 July: Donetsk, Chernihiv, Odesa regions;

16 July: Zaporizhzhia, Vinnytsia, Rivne regions;

18 July: Volyn, Lviv, Chernivtsi regions;

19 July: Ternopil, Poltava, Kherson, Zakarpattia regions;

23 July: Cherkasy, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv regions;

24 July: Zhytomyr, Ivano-Frankivsk, Sumy, Kirovohrad regions.

While one region will be free of restrictions, other regions will have power cuts according to schedules.

The situation with blackouts will improve

We wrote that the situation with electricity supply in Ukraine might improve by the end of July. According to Ukrenergo, after 20 July, generating units will be repaired, which will reduce the schedule of power cuts for Ukrainians. Read more about this here.

We remind you! Ukraine is facing a difficult situation in the power system due to systematic shelling by russia. Due to the power shortage, the government may introduce changes to school schedules.
