Anti-rating: the most dangerous countries for driving

Bulgaria is at the top of the list of the most dangerous countries. Tourists planning to travel in this country are advised to use the railroad rather than rented cars. By the way, tickets are inexpensive.

Romania ranks second. It is also advised to use rail connections, especially with Hungary and Bulgaria, rather than taking risks on the roads.

Serbia and Latvia are in third and fourth place. The road infrastructure in these countries is not conducive to safe travel, so public transportation is a better alternative.

Croatia, known for its resorts, is ranked fifth due to its high road death rate. It is immediately followed by Portugal, Greece, and Lithuania. Italy, with more than 3,000 fatalities in 2023, is ranked ninth. Poland rounds out the top 10 anti-leaders.

How to stay safe on European roads?

The number of cars on European roads is increasing every year, which increases the risks for drivers. For example, last summer, highways from Germany to Croatia and Slovenia were overloaded, leading to chaos. In this regard, the authorities of different countries are launching campaigns to raise driver awareness.

It is worth remembering the basic safety rules: take breaks during long journeys, drink enough water, and follow the speed limits.

Also, don't forget to take out a Green Card, a compulsory international car insurance that is mandatory when traveling in the EU. This document will provide you with financial protection in case of an accident abroad.

You can buy car insurance for traveling abroad quickly and easily on the Visit Ukraine portal.
