3 As of 11 June 2017, Ukrainian citizens holding a biometric passport do not need a visa to enter Spain. However, the visa-free regime applies only to short-term trips - tourist, medical or to visit relatives. Holders of non-biometric passports must also apply for a visa. Read the article to find out how to choose a visa for emigration to Spain and what steps to take to make your life in the sunny country comfortable.

What types of visas are available in Spain?

First of all, visas are divided into two categories according to their functional purpose:

- immigration - for permanent residence in the country;

- non-immigrant - for temporary stay in the country.

Those who want to emigrate to Spain need an immigration visa. If you want to travel for a long period of time (more than 3 months) to carry out certain activities, you should take care of applying for a category D visa. This can be a work visa (can be issued for several years), a student visa (issued for 1 year), a visitor visa (issued for relatives, friends or a company registered in Spain - valid for up to 1 year, you can stay in the country for 90 days within 6 months).

Ukrainians in Spain can obtain or extend temporary protection, which is valid until 4 March 2025. To learnhow to obtain a TIE card in Spain, follow the link.

5. Two colour photographs of 3.5×4.5 size, 80% of the face, white background

6. A photocopy of all pages of the internal passport (for biometric passports - an additional copy of the extract from the register of the territorial community on the place of residence)

7. Certificate from the place of work (all phone numbers must be active and up-to-date so that consular officers can call to check).

8. Information about the old passport (original and copy of the cancelled passport, certificate from the Federal Security Service - if it has been withdrawn).

9. Bank statement (60 euros per day per person is required);

10. A sponsorship letter, which is issued in case of lack of funds.
