The issue of delayed issuance of Ukrainian passports abroad, which affected tens of thousands of citizens, has finally been resolved. Iryna Vereshchuk, Deputy Head of the Presidential Office, said that the state-owned enterprise Document will soon provide ready-made passports to more than 80,000 Ukrainian citizens in Poland.
How was this issue resolved?
Iryna Vereshchuk noted that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had personally discussed this issue with the Ukrainian community in Warsaw. The problem, according to the official, concerned the work of the passport service of the State Enterprise Document, which delayed the process of issuing documents.
‘In Poland alone, we are talking about more than 80,000 citizens who have been waiting for their documents for a long time. The President has resolved the issue. Passports will be issued not only in Poland, but also in other countries where they are stuck,’ Vereshchuk emphasised.

Legislative changes
Delays in the issuance of passports abroad have been a topic of discussion since the autumn of 2024. At the time, the Judicial and Legal Newspaper reported that many Ukrainians, including pensioners, had been waiting for their documents for more than six months. However, in August 2024, Law No. 3709-IX came into force, which obliged the passport service of the State Enterprise Document to issue passports abroad within a period not exceeding three months after the application is submitted.
Iryna Vereshchuk expressed her gratitude to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories for their cooperation in resolving this issue.
