What does the draft law provide for?

According to the adopted changes, the education of Ukrainian refugee students will be officially recognized. In addition, the document creates legal grounds for the recognition of educational centers operating outside Ukraine, such as Saturday and Sunday schools and non-governmental organizations that provide educational services to Ukrainian children.

The authors of the draft law emphasize that the existing mechanism for recognizing learning outcomes is outdated and does not meet today's realities. The new document will allow for the development of regulations that will greatly simplify the procedure for recognizing knowledge, skills and competencies acquired abroad.

What changes are in store for Ukrainian children?

• The results of Ukrainian children's education abroad will be officially recognized in Ukraine.

• The mechanism for recognizing education obtained in schools and educational centers for Ukrainians abroad is being simplified.

• The government will be able to develop new regulations to ensure effective implementation of the changes.

• Ukrainian children who are forced to study abroad will be able to more easily adapt to the domestic educational system upon their return.

Why is this important?

Currently, there are about 356,000 Ukrainian students abroad. However, most of them do not use the simplified form of education with a Ukrainian studies component offered by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. This creates difficulties for their subsequent return to the Ukrainian education system.

The new law will help to preserve the educational level of Ukrainian children, their right to complete secondary education and their integration into the Ukrainian system upon their return to their homeland.

The changes introduced will help preserve the unity of the Ukrainian educational system, support refugee children and ensure that they can continue their education in Ukraine without unnecessary obstacles.

One of the main challenges for Ukrainian families abroad is adapting their child to the new education system without losing contact with the Ukrainian program. It is important to understand how to combine studying at a local school and distance learning in Ukraine, what rights your child has, and how to legalize documents. A consultation with an educational lawyer will help you find the best solution for you.
