What is the CUAET program?

Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel (CUAET) is a special program of the Government of Canada to support Ukrainians fleeing war. The program allows Ukrainians and their family members to obtain extended temporary resident status, which entitles them to:

- Employment without the need to obtain additional permits;

- Studying in Canadian educational institutions without restrictions;

- Temporary financial assistance for adaptation;

- Housing support, including temporary housing or rental compensation.

Since the program was launched, nearly 300,000 people have taken advantage of the opportunity to move to Canada. This initiative has allowed many Ukrainians to find a safe place to live and build a new life.

The importance of applying on time

It is very important to apply for an extension of status before the expiration of work or study permits. Persons who submit their documents by the deadline will retain their current work or study status while awaiting a decision on their application.

All applications will be reviewed individually, so it is important to prepare your documents properly to avoid delays or rejections.

The extension of the CUAET program is an important step to support Ukrainians who have found temporary asylum in Canada. Timely application for extension of permits will allow Ukrainians to retain all available rights and opportunities.
