Where in Ukraine were the most cars purchased in 2025: regional ranking and leading models

In 2025, the Ukrainian car market showed a clear regional concentration of demand for both new and imported used passenger cars. The largest number of registrations traditionally fell on the capital and several economically active regions. This was reported by Ukravtoprom, summarizing the results of the year.

Leading regions in terms of new passenger car registrations

Kyiv remains the undisputed leader in terms of the number of new passenger cars purchased in 2025. Over the year, 26,200 new cars were registered in the capital, which significantly exceeds the figures for other regions.

In second place is the Kyiv region, where 7,800 new passenger cars were registered. This result is explained by both the active development of the suburbs of the capital and the growth of car mobility among the region's residents.

The Dnipropetrovsk region closes the top three regions with 6,800 new cars. Next in the ranking are the Odessa region with 4,500 new cars and the Lviv region with 4,400 registrations.

Thus, five regions accounted for the main demand for new passenger cars in the country.

Which models became the most popular in the regions

Buyers' preferences varied significantly depending on the region. In Kyiv, the Renault Duster was the most popular choice, remaining popular due to its combination of price, practicality, and adaptability to urban and suburban conditions.

In the Kyiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions, the Volkswagen ID.Unyx electric car became the sales leader, indicating growing interest in electric transport in regions with developed infrastructure.

In the Odesa region in 2025, the BYD Song Plus accounted for the largest number of new registrations, while in the Lviv region, the Toyota RAV-4 remained the leader — a model that traditionally enjoys stable demand among Ukrainian drivers.

Imported used cars: where they were bought the most

Imported used passenger cars formed a separate part of the market in 2025. According to Ukravtoprom, most of these cars were registered in the western and central regions of the country.

The leader was the Lviv region, where 35,100 used cars from abroad were registered during the year. Next in the ranking:

● Kyiv — 24,000 cars;

● Kyiv region — 19,100;

● Dnipropetrovsk region — 16,300;

● Rivne region — 16,200.

In most of these regions, the Tesla Model Y was the undisputed favorite among imported cars, confirming Ukrainians' steady interest in electric vehicles even on the secondary market. The exception was Rivne region, where the most popular imported car in 2025 was the Volkswagen Golf.
