Despite constant shelling of railway infrastructure and a difficult security situation, Ukrzaliznytsia continues to expand passenger services in frontline regions. In February, an additional daily train between Kharkiv and Sumy was launched in Slobozhanshchyna, which should improve transport accessibility in the region and provide convenient connections within Ukraine and abroad. This was reported by the carrier's press service on its Telegram channel.

When the Kharkiv-Sumy train was launched

The new train No. 213/214 Kharkiv-Sumy began operating daily on February 7. According to Ukrzaliznytsia, its launch is intended to make connections between cities more stable and predictable, as well as to reduce the load on other routes in the region.

This is especially important for residents of Slobozhanshchyna, where alternative modes of transport often operate intermittently due to security risks.

Train schedule

The train will run according to the following schedule:

● from Kharkiv — departure at 09:00, arrival in Sumy at 12:17;

● From Sumy — departure at 12:56, arrival in Kharkiv at 16:01.

Stops along the route

The train will make stops at key stations in the region: Lyubotin, Bohodukhiv, Kyrykivka, Trostyanets-Smorodine.

What kind of cars are in the train

The train will have compartment cars and open-plan cars with seats.

There will be a simple but important feature for passengers: odd-numbered seats will be by the window, and even-numbered seats will be by the aisle.

Transfers in Kharkiv: where you can go next

One of the key advantages of the new route is convenient transfers in Kharkiv. Passengers will be able to continue their journey without long waits for trains to Kyiv, Lviv, Odesa, Uzhhorod, Vorokhta, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Chernivtsi.

International flights to Chełm and Przemyśl are also available in Kharkiv, making the new connection an important logistics element for those planning further trips abroad.

To simplify route planning, passengers can conveniently book tickets for all types of transport in advance through Visit Ukraine — this allows you to choose the best connections by train, bus, or international flight in one service.

We remind you! The security situation affects passenger train transportation in the border regions of Ukraine. Read about which routes Ukrzaliznytsia has introduced bus transportation and how passengers can plan their trips.
