“Intellect of Ukraine”: Ministry of Digital Transformation Unveils Name of National AI Model
The Ukrainian large-scale AI language model has been named “Syaivo” following a vote by “Diia” users. The “Intellect of Ukraine” project aims to enhance data security and preserve the Ukrainian context in AI applications. Learn more about the details, voting results, and plans for beta testing
Ukrainians using the “Diia” app have chosen a name for the country's national large language model (LLM)—it will be called “Syayvo.” This was announced by the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine.
According to the results of an open vote in which 136,090 users participated, the option “Syaivo” received the most votes—22,601—surpassing its closest competitor, “Slovo,” by three thousand votes.
User opinions on the name were divided: some consider it beautiful and symbolic, while others note that it is difficult for foreigners to pronounce and hard to remember. The “Slovo” option took second place in the ranking, and “Homin” took third.

Ukrainian LLM Project
Last June, the Ministry of Digital Transformation, together with Kyivstar, began joint development of a national large language model. Beta testing is scheduled for late spring 2026.
Large language models (LLMs) are artificial intelligence systems trained on large volumes of text data. They are capable of understanding the context, style, and content of text, as well as creating coherent texts, generating code, responses, or articles.
LLMs are built on transformer architecture, which allows them to predict word sequences. Well-known examples of such models include GPT-4 (OpenAI), Gemini (Google), and Llama (Meta). They are used in chatbots, translation tools, text analysis, and programming.
Why is a Ukrainian model important?
According to the developers, having a local language model enhances data and content security. Foreign LLMs may not take the Ukrainian context into account or may be vulnerable to propaganda.
Local data processing will become critical for AI applications in fields such as defense, medicine, and finance, and will also help protect the Ukrainian language and cultural context in the digital environment.
