Lviv is a great starting point for exploring western Ukraine. Just one to three hours’ drive from the city lie the Carpathian peaks, spa resorts, ancient fortresses, and picturesque Hutsul villages. The Visit Ukraine portal has prepared a selection of tours for every taste—from one-day trips to the mountains to a three-day getaway in Zakarpattia.

We’ll tell you more about what awaits travelers setting out from Lviv for the weekend in the article below.

One-day tours to the Carpathians from Lviv: Tustan, Bukovel, and Yaremche

For those who want to see as much as possible in a single day, Visit Ukraine offers three routes.

The “Carpathians in 1 Day” tour is a trip that combines the history and nature of the Skole Beskids. Travelers will see the rock fortress of Tustan—a unique defensive structure from the Old Rus’ era—take a chairlift up Mount Pohar, and enjoy a panoramic view of the Carpathian ridges from above. The tour concludes with a visit to the Kamianka Waterfall, hidden among beech forests. The tour is available weekly throughout May, so it’s easy to find a convenient date.

Another option is the “1-Day Tour to Bukovel”. The ski resort is bustling with activity in the summer: the lifts, the Ferris wheel, the “Hutsul Land” ethno-park, and the souvenir market are all open. Travelers have plenty of free time to explore the resort on their own or visit the spa.

The “Yaremche + Bukovel in 1 Day” tour combines two iconic destinations in the Carpathian region into a single itinerary. The morning begins in Yaremche—with the Probiy Waterfall and a colorful souvenir market where you can purchase handmade Hutsul crafts. After lunch, the group heads to Bukovel with its ski lifts, toboggan run, and attractions. The return to Lviv is scheduled for the evening of the same day.

Spa Getaway and Boiko Culture: Tours to Truskavets from Lviv

Travelers looking for a combination of relaxation and new experiences should check out two itineraries centered around the resort town of Truskavets.

The two-day “Truskavets” tour offers a packed itinerary with a morning departure from Lviv. On the first day, participants will visit a banana farm where tropical trees grow and you can taste exotic fruits, and then the “MUKKO” cheese factory with a tasting and the opportunity to buy delicacies to take home.

Another stop is the first craft “Mushroom Farm,” where everyone can pick mushrooms right from the garden beds. In the evening, travelers will check into the hotel and relax at the spa complex, which features pools, a jacuzzi, and a bathhouse. The second day features the “Oscar” Dolphinarium with a show and the chance to swim with dolphins, a walking tour of Truskavets with a tasting of “Naftusia” mineral water, and an evening stroll through Lviv on the way back.

The “Boikivsky Relax” tour lasts one day and introduces you to the region’s Boikiv heritage. The route begins in Boryslav, home to the preserved historic Y. Zega Pharmacy, while the chairlift to Mount Bukovytsia offers a panoramic view of the foothills. Next up is fishing and a spa retreat in Truskavets, and the day concludes with a tasting of mead and honey wine in Drohobych. Return to Lviv by 10:00 PM.

Transcarpathia and spiritual routes: multi-day trips

For those willing to dedicate more time to the trip, Visit Ukraine offers a three-day program and a one-day pilgrimage route.

The “CHILL IN TRANSCARPATIA” tour lasts three days and combines active recreation with culinary discoveries. On the first day, participants will enjoy a jeep tour through the Carpathian mountain pastures and a swim at the Rikka Khust Thermal complex, featuring pools, hot tubs, and saunas. The second day features a tour of Khust with a hike to the castle ruins, cheese tasting at the Selyska cheese factory, a visit to the village of Iza—a renowned center for wickerwork—and a tour of Mykhailo Kogutych’s wine cellars. The third day of the program is dedicated to bathing in the thermal waters of Velyatino and a cable car ride up Mount Makovytsia with views of Borzhava and Mizhhiria.

The “Pilgrimage from Starunia to Pohon and Manyava” tour is a one-day itinerary for those interested in Ukraine’s spiritual heritage. During the day, travelers will visit the monastery in Pohonia to pray before the miraculous icon, the pilgrimage center of Blessed Simeon Lukach in Starunia with the Way of the Cross, and the Manyava Monastery, from where a hiking trail leads to the Blessed Stone.
