Users of the Ukrzaliznytsia app have recently been actively discussing the issue of reserved tickets disappearing after leaving the payment page. Many passengers complain that after accidentally closing the page or attempting to view other seat options, they have to make a new reservation. As reported by RBC-Ukraine, the company explained that this restriction was intentionally introduced to prevent abuse of the system.

Why do ticket reservations disappear in the Ukrzaliznytsia app?

Previously, users could return to an already open payment page and complete the purchase later. However, this feature was removed due to widespread ticket manipulation.

According to the company, some users deliberately reserved large numbers of seats, held them without paying, and switched between different options. As a result, the system showed that tickets were unavailable, even though they were actually temporarily blocked.

As a result, other passengers were unable to purchase tickets, even if seats were technically available.

How does ticket booking work in the UZ app now?

Currently, the rule is: one session — one booking. This means that after selecting a seat, the system reserves it for approximately 15 minutes. This is the amount of time the passenger has to complete the payment.

If the user:

● leaves the payment page;

● closes the app;

● clicks the “Log out and cancel reservation” button;

the reservation is automatically canceled. After that, the seat returns to general sale, and the passenger must start the process over.

A corresponding warning is also displayed directly in the app.

The new system is designed to make ticket sales more transparent and fair for all users. This is especially relevant for popular routes, where tickets sell out in a matter of minutes.

For passengers, this means that before starting the booking process, you should:

● decide on the date and route in advance;

● select your desired seats without rushing before proceeding to payment;

● have your credit card ready;

● do not leave the payment page unnecessarily.

If you’re planning your trip in advance, it’s convenient to compare routes and book tickets for trains, buses, or other modes of transport via the Visit Ukraine booking system — this will help you quickly find the right travel option in one place.

Why do Ukrzaliznytsia train tickets sell out so quickly?

In addition to high demand, ticket availability is influenced by:

● the vacation season;

● holidays;

● limited seating;

● temporary reservations made by other users.

That is why tickets sometimes disappear and reappear a few minutes later—this is due to the cancellation of unpaid reservations.

So, if a ticket reservation disappears in the Ukrzaliznytsia app after you exit the payment page—this is not an error, but part of a new anti-abuse system. Passengers should keep the 15-minute time limit in mind and complete payment without delay to avoid losing their selected seat.

We remind you! Ukrzaliznytsia is introducing a dynamic pricing system. From now on, the cost depends on the day of the week, the season, and the date of purchase. The changes will apply to premium segments and refund policies. Read how to buy cheap tickets under the carrier’s new rules.
